Live Life Off-Leash
APRIL

Hello Viz Whizzers,
A reminder about the Vizsla Nationals in Boston, if you're attending, stop by and say hello. Check out all the details below and if you would like to help volunteer at our booth, click the sign up.
Last month we raised just over $2K for Gambit to have his leg surgery, see his story below. We could not have done it without your support.
Sharing our Easter group photo, we hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and enjoyed the Spring break. Keeping with traditions we hiked Easter morning in Austin with mimosas and treats afterwards, and had 41 dogs and their human join us. Always so much fun!
If you have any questions, would like some more information about our packs or breeders, feel free to reach out anytime.
Happy Viz Whizzing,

Solar Eclipse and your Pets
Happy solar Eclipse! The likely-hood of a dog actually looking at the sun is very low but if you are concerned, we recommend keeping them indoors and away from direct sunlight. You can ensure they remain unharmed and enjoy their usual routine without any added stress. If you must take your dog to a crowded event, make sure they are on a leash and well-supervised at all times.
Dogs Adopted March
Blaze (VRT) (Texas)
Gunner (VRT) (Texas)
Logan (Freedom ride from a shelter) (Texas)
Murphy, a vizsla mix was saved from a kill shelter in Texas and went to his new forever home on March 18th. We are just so happy for him and so grateful to our amazing community - Aimee Tallman Pirtle & Clarissa Elizondo for being a part of his journey and Jessica Lee Young for fostering him. We couldn't do this without our volunteers. Murphy now has lots of human and dog siblings, a big fenced in yard and so many amazing adventures waiting for him. Quinn and I were lucky enough to drop him off and meet his new family.
MEET FLASH - he needs a new home
Meet FLASH He is a purpebred GSP around 4 years old, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and around 58lbs. He’s looking for a very special home. Located in Lakeview, Michigan. His carer originally took Flash in as a foster dog from a local “rescue”, that takes in bird dogs and trains them as hunting dogs. Flash was in desperate need of a home because he was so scared of the gunshot and it has sadly left him a very nervous dog. His adopter has dedicated hours and hours of training and patience and Flash has come so far. He got on well with their vizsla who sadly just passed away and now she realizes how much he needs the companionship of another dog.
“I recently lost my Vizsla to a battle with Lymphoma and I my heart hurts so much I just can’t bear the thought of getting another vizsla yet and Flash really needs another dog to help guide him further.” His story prior to adoption - was that he was raised in a puppy mill and used for breeding, so he was not socialized and neglected. He did not know how to run or play and wasn’t housebroken. Many male breeding dogs are often isolated in puppy mills. He is now house trained and learning more things everyday. We are looking for a special home that is quiet, MUST have a fenced in yard and someone that will give Flash time and training. Flash has to be walked on a leash outside of the yard. He loves car rides and loves to swim. Flash is very reserved and slow to adapt to new situations, he is not mean or aggressive in any way, and he has been around different dogs and people.
Please complete our application form if you’re interested in adopting Flash.
Gambit got his surgery
Thanks to our amazing community we were able to raise just over $2K for Gambit’s surgery. Gambit had been left at a shelter back in November last year with a damaged leg and sadly no-one actually knows what happened to him. His foster mom got him x-rayed and It turns out it was pretty bad. The bone was growing into his muscle, he wasn't using the leg, his behavior was changing and he was clearly suffering. After a vet consultation, it was recommended that his back leg be amputated. Surgery went well and three weeks later Gambit now has his stitches out and is running on-leash, improving each and every day. Thank you to everyone that donated and made this possible.

Viz Whizz Dogs Rescue
We are excited to let you know that Viz Whizz Dogs Rescue has been incorporated and is officially at 501c3 which is pretty exciting! I wanted to introduce two very special ladies that will be spearheading the rescue with me:-
Kim Leatherman - based in Virginia, Working Dog Ranch LLC is a Veteran owned business that Kim operates with her partner David who is an Air Force Veteran and has over 15 years of K9 experience. They breed Vizslas to be future working detection K-9s.
Jayme Stephens - based in Mississippi is a Veteran and K9 trainer that makes gorgeous collars and leashes for dogs. Check out her business called Stephens Fur Crew, you’ll love them.
Kim and Jayme both bring so much to the table with their knowledge and compassion for helping all dogs and giving them the best second chance.
We also have a group of dedicated volunteers ready to help us! The main focus of our rescue will be helping the dogs that many of the purebred clubs can’t, mixed breeds and always supporting our Viz Whizz members.
