Emergency Response Plan: Did you know?

Schools are considered to be one of the safest places in our community. However, in reality, an emergency can occur at any time. Throughout the year, we conduct training and drills to prepare our students and staff for possible emergency situations.

We will be holding the following drills this week on Wednesday morning:

  1. On Alert: This protocol is used to advise the school of a possible emergency. Students remain in their classes, attendance is taken, and further instructions are communicated based on the nature of the incident.
  2. Evacuation: This is used when it is safer to be outside of the building than inside. All students and staff leave the building and go to an alternate location. This may mean only going outside and away from the building until it is safe to re-enter the school. In other cases, we may need to go to an evacuation center. In the event of a real evacuation, parents would be notified of the alternate through our Crisis Notification Network.
  3. All Clear: Used to indicate that the incident has come to a closure.

For more information, please visit our school website where you will find detailed information about our Emergency Response Plan including a helpful video and details about all of our protocols and procedures.
