Jayhawk Staff Weekly Update
August 16, 2024
Message from Dr. Samuels
Thank you for your dedication to our students and for making these first two days truly exceptional. Your hard work has set a positive tone for the year, and we’re excited about the path ahead!
On Monday at 12:45 p.m., we will meet with 7th-grade students in the auditorium to review school-wide expectations and address any questions they may have. They seem to be transitioning well so far. I also met with Russ and Pete this week to brainstorm ways to better prepare our students, such as providing combination locks for practice. They are eager to partner with us on this initiative.
Safety Reminder: Please ensure that all doors latch securely behind you when exiting the building. For everyone’s safety, please avoid propping doors open, as it compromises our building’s security.
We’ve done well so far in preventing students from leaving the building to retrieve items from their cars. Thank you for supporting this change—it’s making a big difference.
Fundraisers 24 - 25: Please notify Bob if you plan to do any fundraising (excluding concession stands) as he will keep a master list and publish it frequently so we do not have competing groups. We appreciate your efforts in helping kids raise funds. Below is a list of what has been turned in so far.
September - STUCO - Butter Braids
January/February - FCCLA/STUCO - Fresh Strawberries
February - STUCO - "Love Match"
Hawk Time: Students will be able to travel during Hawk Time starting next Wednesday, August 21. They can seek academic assistance and you may begin to meet with groups/clubs. Please let Bob know so we can keep a schedule in order to not double book students. We will allow reward kids to begin leaving after they check out in the office. Please contact Brian if you need assistance with adaptive scheduler.
Your ongoing commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for our students shines through in everything you do. We appreciate all of your efforts.
