Clairemont Cafe - Tonight!
Clairemont Cafe
We are thrilled to invite our second-grade families to the inaugural Clairemont Cafe, a special celebration of our final Wit & Wisdom module of the year! Throughout this module, students have explored how food nourishes our bodies and how shared meals can unite entire communities. During this event, students will "conference" with their families to share their expert learning and reflections on making healthy choices. We are also excited to partner with DHS Culinary Arts students, who will prepare and serve a healthy meal based directly on our students' recommendations. So second-grade families, please join us on Thursday, May 14th, at 5:00 PM to celebrate a year of incredible growth and "nourish" our school community!
LAST Walk & Roll Tomorrow!
A Tough Goodbye
Thank you, Ms. Nelson!
We are heartbroken to announce that Ms. Nelson will be setting off on a new adventure and saying goodbye to her Clairemont family at the end of this school year. Here is a note from Ms. Nelson:
When I came to Clairemont in August of 2013, it was a new beginning for me. I had never taught children so young before but as a mom of a toddler and with one on the way, I knew that Clairemont would be a special place for me and my growing family, and it was!
Over the past 12 years, I have truly loved working with our Clairemont Crew! Our students are the most creative, talented, intelligent, curious, humorous, and oh my, can they sing beautifully!
This is my last year teaching music in City Schools of Decatur and I will truly miss seeing music students in the classroom and on the stage. I am thrilled to announce that Mr. Perry, who was our music student teacher from January to May of this year, will be continuing the very important work of inspiring and teaching our young learners through the lens of music.
Thank you to all of the parents who have dedicated countless hours of support, and for the enthusiasm that came with each idea, no matter how far-fetched it was.
To my colleagues, you are my family. What an amazing time we have had collaborating together, sharing our lives, and teaching our crew each day! I will truly miss Clairemont and I am so grateful for this amazing experience! Have a wonderful summer!

Notes from the Nurse
End-of-School-Year Medication Pick-Up
All student medications (prescription and over-the-counter) must be picked up by the end of the school day on Friday, May 22. Medications are not allowed to remain in the school clinic over the summer.
Any medications not picked up by the last day of school will be properly disposed of according to local, state, and federal laws. Students are not permitted to transport medication home. If, for any reason, you are unable to pick up your student’s medication by the last day of school, you must make alternative arrangements by contacting Nurse Manjit in writing before the end of the school year. We appreciate your support and understanding of this important request.
