UIL Eligibility Grade Check – Friday, September 18

This is an important reminder that Friday, September 18, is the final day of our six-week UIL eligibility grade check.

At 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 18, we will check students’ grades for UIL eligibility. If your student is failing a class at that time, they will become ineligible to participate in UIL activities and competitions beginning the following Friday, September 25.

Because our regular grading periods are nine weeks, this six-week UIL grade check can be a little confusing. This is not the end of the grading period. Instead, UIL requires us to conduct an eligibility check at the six-week mark of our nine-week grading cycle.

We are asking for your help between now and Friday:

  • Please check your student’s grades in Skyward Family Access.
  • Talk with your student about their current grades and any missing assignments.
  • Encourage your student to communicate with teachers and take advantage of available opportunities to improve their grades.
  • Make sure your student understands that the grades they have at 4:30 p.m. Friday will determine their UIL eligibility.

Thank you for your support, your partnership and communication with your student can make a significant difference this week.

Every day in the classroom is an opportunity to learn, connect and grow. Missing just two days each month can add up to four weeks of lost learning by the end of the school year.

LEAD LEAD

Celebrating Our Aledo LEADS Bearcats!

Today, we are proud to highlight students who were nominated by their teachers or staff members for demonstrating what it means to be a Learner, Empathetic, Accountable, or Dedicated Bearcat.

These students are making a positive impact on our campus through the way they approach their learning, support others, take ownership of their actions, and give their best effort each day. Their actions represent the kind of character we want to see throughout the Aledo community.

Please join us in congratulating and celebrating these outstanding students for being great examples of Aledo LEADS!

The Go Center is back up and running!

The Bound for Success program is a partnership between UTA and Aledo ISD where a dedicated College and Career coach works on our campus 2 days per week. When here, they will be working with students on college applications, financial aid, and so much more. While they do work for UTA, they can partner with you to help you with any college or technical school application to ensure you have the support you need. These partners have a wealth of knowledge in post-secondary planning and will work with our Counseling Team to bring another layer of service and support for our AHS students!

Students can request to see them by scanning the BFS QR code on their door outside of the Library!

Parents and students may send the reps an email or schedule a virtual meeting here: https://appt.link/kattya-cepedas-meetings-m6kqjxvh

kattya.cepeda@uta.edu or mariska.debruijn@uta.edu

Kattya and Mariska are back this year and ready to assist you in the AHS Go Center! Kattya will be here on Thursdays and Mariska will be here on Mondays in Room 1118!

At Aledo High School, the safety and security of our students, staff, and families is always a top priority. One way we strengthen campus safety is by requiring all students to wear their school-issued ID badge whenever they are on school property during the school day.

Students received their ID badges during Bearcats Are Back. If your student did not receive their ID, they can pick it up in the cafeteria during their assigned lunch.

Please help us reinforce this important safety expectation by reminding your Bearcat to wear their ID badge around their neck and keep it visible at all times while on campus.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and secure campus for all of our Bearcats!

The Bearcat Regiment is embracing change as it prepares for its first season competing at the 6A level. This year’s marching show, “The Other Side of Here,” centers on the themes of change, transformation, and growth—a fitting reflection of the band’s move to a new level of competition.

The production features creative elements including lookalike costumes, costume changes, and portals that create the appearance of performers teleporting across the field. Music selections include works by John Psathas, Hirokazu Fukushima, Nicholas Britell, David Arnold, Russell Wharton, and Simon Dobson.

Leading the Regiment this season are senior drum majors Brayden DeBoer, Kylie Kirkland, Harper Jones, and Ruby Shaver. Each brings a unique leadership role and musical background to the field while preparing for life beyond high school.

The band’s goal is clear: reach the state marching contest in November. As Assistant Band Director Dexx Moore shared, the Regiment is working to meet the higher expectations of 6A competition and demonstrate its growth through every performance.

Homecoming Parade & Community Pep Rally

Homecoming Week is almost here, and we are excited to bring the Aledo community together for our Homecoming Parade and Community Pep Rally!

The parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, bringing students, staff, organizations, and community members together to celebrate our Bearcats and kick off Homecoming Week. Following the parade, everyone is invited to continue the celebration at our Community Pep Rally inside Buchanan Stadium.

Parade Route & Event Details

We are continuing to finalize the logistics for the parade. In the meantime, please refer to the map below for the parade route. Additional information will be shared later this week. Please watch for future communication as we get closer to the event.

Safety First

The safety of our students, families, participants, and spectators is our top priority. AHS/DNG administrators and staff, Aledo ISD police officers, and community volunteers will be stationed throughout the parade route to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

We ask parents, guardians, and adults attending the parade to actively supervise children and help ensure they do not enter driveways or the parade route during the parade. Keeping spectators clear of the route will allow our parade participants and emergency personnel to move safely through the community.

Community Pep Rally

Immediately following the parade, join us inside Buchanan Stadium for the Community Pep Rally. Spectators should sit on the home side of the stadium.

Bring your Bearcat spirit and help us kick off Homecoming Week together! We look forward to seeing students, families, alumni, and community members lining the route and filling Buchanan Stadium as we celebrate Bearcat Nation!

Bearcats Earn First 6A Victory

After an 0–2 start to the season, the Aledo Bearcats responded in a big way with a 31–7 road victory over Euless Trinity on September 11.

Aledo’s defense set the tone, forcing a turnover on downs in the red zone after an early interception. The Bearcats carried that momentum throughout the game, taking a 24–0 lead into halftime.

Quarterback Tre Williams accounted for four touchdowns, connecting with Kane Lanier on two touchdown passes and adding a third touchdown pass to Colby Thompson. Wyatt Dorsey also added a rushing touchdown, while Jordan Hall recorded an interception for the Bearcats' defense.

The victory provides valuable momentum as Aledo enters district play this week. The Bearcats travel to face the Granbury Pirates in their first district game of the season.
