VISION
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Lindblom families and community,
I want to acknowledge the heaviness many in our community may be carrying as we witness and process recent acts of violence connected to federal immigration enforcement efforts in Minneapolis. The national coverage, public demonstrations, and ongoing questions about justice, belonging, and safety can stir deep emotions and reflection for students, families, and educators alike. Moments like these can make our shared work of nurturing hope and stability feel especially challenging. Moreover, especially for elders, the ICE raids and public killings are tragically reminiscent of Klan member activity conducted in the not-so-distant past.
We are human and it is natural to feel the weight of these realities. We are also not meant to carry them alone. Our Lindblom “Be”lief Pillars call us to show up for one another and for our students with compassion, understanding, and a continued commitment to equity, especially during times that test our collective sense of safety and hope.
Together we rise in cross racial solidarity,
Principal Banks
~Swoop, swoop!
P. S. Here is a snippet of joy that I captured during the dance recital.

ATTENTION (Dismissal Concerns)
Parents, dismissal is at 2:48p on Colloquium days and 3:05p on maroon/gold days. All students must leave campus after dismissal unless involved in a staff-supervised afterschool activity. Afterschool offerings are advertised within our newsletters; most offerings are free and a few have a nominal fee. Space is limited to forty (40) students in the social room and forty (40) students in the library; both spaces close at 5:00 p.m. and students must depart the building at that time. Lindblom Park is one of our valuable community partners and the park offers affordable after-school programming for students of all ages. Consider the available options at Lindblom Park or make the necessary arrangements to pick up your children on time.
100 Years of Honoring Black History!
100 hundred years ago, Historian Carter G. Woodson initiated Negro History Week in 1926 to ensure that the anti-slavery and anti-Jim Crow lived experiences, accomplishments, and contributions of Black people were named, studied, and honored during a time when they were so often erased from our national narrative. What started as a week to address the omission of Black/pan-African individuals from American history is now Black History Month and the purpose is still relevant today.
Black History Month reminds us that truth-telling has always been an act of resistance and hope. From Reconstruction classrooms to freedom schools during the Civil Rights Movement, educators and communities taught history not to equip young people with understanding, pride, and purpose.
Black History Month Talent
Eagles, if you have a talent you want to display at the Black History Celebration. Sign up for auditions February 5th and 6th from 3:30 to 5:30.
BE SUPPORTIVE
Help Get Bleachers at Lindblom Park
Eagles, we need your support to get bleachers for Lindblom Park! The Chicago Park District (CPkD) is launching a Citywide Participatory Budget (PB) process to deepen community engagement, increase transparency in public spending, and strengthen resident trust in park planning and resource allocation. Through this initiative, residents, park users, and community stakeholders will be invited to submit specific park improvement ideas for parks across the city.
Please apply, individually and collectively; it takes less than 5 minutes. The application link is here.
Spring Report Card Pick-Up
Helping our students thrive is at the heart of everything we do. I am proud to say that our teachers value connecting with the parents of our students and the parents of our students value collaborating with our teachers. Thank you to the teachers and parents who shared feedback within our RCPU surveys; your perspectives were incredibly valuable in highlighting the value of parent-teacher connections. Your perspectives also highlighted where we can make the process smoother and more meaningful for everyone.
March 18 is our next Parent Teacher Conference Day/Report Card Pick-Up (RCPU). We want to build a RCPU model that honors expertise and everyone's overall investment of time, while keeping our student's growth at the absolute center of every conversation. We invite you to vote on the direction that best fits our community.
