A Message From the Principal
Dear Academy Families and Friends,
The school year is on the move! The students and staff had a great first (short) week to help kick the year off right. In the week ahead, our kindergarteners will join our ranks starting Monday and our building will be running at 100%. This time of year, it is truly magical when the children are all here under one roof and seeing every classroom rich with the sights and sounds of teaching and learning.
In the week ahead, our students and staff will review PBIS expectations as well as safety practices. At this early stage, it is so important to ensure all students know the different facets of ROAR (Respect Ownership, Achievement, Responsibility) and other important routines. They did a great job with arrival, dismissal, and lunch on Friday. We will continue working on setting the foundational stones as the bedrock of a great year.
Thank you again to all of the families and staff for making the first few days so smooth. We'll continue to pick up the pace and before you know it, we'll be soaring.
Mr. Patrick J. Higgins
Principal

Things to Know
Here are a few things to think/know about for the upcoming start of school:
- The late bell is at 9:05AM Please have your child here and ready for learning every day. In the event that your child arrives late, please bring them to the school's main entrance and sign them in. Do not just drop them off, we want to make sure they are safe and supervised at all times.
- Just a reminder to parents using the Top Lot, the lot closes at 9:00AM for arrival and 3:10PM for end of the day pick-up. Cars should stay clear of the front circle during arrival and dismissal. No parking on the circle please. Also please remember in the morning to wait for the BIG WAVE (staff signal) when to unload.
- Musical Instrument Donations: If you have a musical instrument you no longer need, please consider donating it to our Grade 5 music program! Please email jean.gilbert@weymouthps.org for more information.
- Also there is a fundraiser event on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at EEs Ice Cream!
Safety Protocols
Safety Protocols: This week students and staff will be reviewing and practicing safety routines/procedures. These lessons include ALICE emergency training, exit awareness, fire drill expectations, evacuation locations and stay in place/lockdown routines. Please know that we are careful to explain all of these terms and routines to students in developmentally appropriate ways. As hard as it can be to think and talk about some of these things, safety is our priority, and practice and preparation are essential.
