Library Procedures

It's time for students to return! When student come to the library, they will sanitize their hands, wear a mask and social distance. That means we will not be using the story corner. Students will be sitting in a designated seat at the tables. There will be no free check out as this complicates contact tracing.

Next week, I would like students to come to the library but I also realize the week will be unpredictable and routines will need to established. I will send the schedule so you can pick a time for your class to come just to check out books. That will give you time to decide on a time that will work each week. (This does not apply to 5th grade since I will be seeing your classes in rotation.) The important thing is to get our students books and reading!

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Our new Library Aide!

We have a new library aide! Her name is Teresa Vallejo! I gave her a tour of the building and she got to meet many of you but if I missed you be sure to stop by and say hello! Ms. Vallejo will be at Park Crest on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

Curbside Service

Please encourage those students that are staying virtual to use our Curbside Service! They can order books from the Book Request button on the Library Canvas Home page. I will checkout, bag up and deliver books to their car. They stay in their vehicle and call the office to let us know they are out front of the school and I will come out with the books.

Can I help you?

Please let me know if you need any materials from the library. I am happy to pull books, check them out to you and deliver them to your classroom. Don't know a specific title? No problem! I can usually find a book to fit most skills and topics so just let me know!

Ebooks on myON! Our virtual reading resource!

MyOn is a FREE resource available to all GISD students that gives them access to THOUSANDS of ebooks! They can use tablets, laptops, computers, or other devices to access myOn. No reliable wifi? Never fear! MyOn can even be accessed once you go offline!

Students access it through GISD Ready Hub.

This resource is also accessible through community libraries for non-GISD students! Find out how here.

The Park Crest Destiny Catalog

Our library catalog is available on every district computer. On your desktop, you will find a little green book with a red ribbon. This is the district Destiny catalog and also the access to many online resources Brittanica Online, Tumblebooks, National Geographic Kids, and PebbleGo. Click on the green book and then click on our school.

You can look for all materials available in our library. Right now we are restricted to our library for materials since there is no ILL at this time. There is a "list" feature on the right side of the screen. You can create a list, put books in this list, copy the list and send it to me by email. I will pull the books, check them out to you and put them in your box. There is no limit on the number of books you can check out.
