Thankfulness
Dear SACS Family and Friends,
Happy November! As cooler days arrive and Thanksgiving draws near, we’re reminded of God’s abundant blessings and faithfulness to our SACS community. This season of gratitude is the perfect time to pause and celebrate just a few of the many ways He has blessed us this year:
Our School Family:
What a joy it is to learn and grow together! Each day, our students, parents, volunteers, and staff contribute to a nurturing environment where everyone can flourish. Thank you for the love, dedication, and support you share so generously.
Our School Board and Constituent Churches:
This year, we’ve been blessed with increased board engagement and presence on campus. Together, we’re committed to providing each student with a Christ-centered education in a safe and thriving environment. A heartfelt thank-you to our constituent churches for your continued prayers, service, and financial support that help sustain our shared mission.
Our Conference:
The Southeastern California Conference continues to pour into our staff with encouragement, professional growth opportunities, and training that empowers us to give our very best to your children. We are deeply grateful for their partnership and investment in our ministry.
Our Grant Givers:
We’re thrilled to share that the Pacific Union and the Loma Linda University EXSEED program have provided funding to help us begin building our Design and Innovation Lab and replace outdated resources with new ones! What a blessing as we continue to enhance our students’ learning experience.
There is truly so much to be thankful for! As we journey through November, may we each take time every day to recognize and give thanks for God’s goodness in our lives.
Blessings,
Karen Dunbar
Principal

The selected projects directly contribute to our five core goals by fostering transformative change, integrating Design Thinking principles, ensuring strong Adventist Education alignment, focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and utilizing Problem-Based Learning. The 2025 EXSEED Grant Recipients
Recipient: Michelle Saker
Houston Adventist Academy has been awarded the EXSEED Grant to strategically transform its pre-K through 12th-grade STEM curriculum. This initiative will embed Design Thinking principles and problem-based learning across all grade levels, supported by extensive faculty professional development and the equipping of a new Innovation Lab. The proposal was selected for its thoroughness, detailed lesson plans, and implementation-ready framework, which is designed to be a replicable model for collaboration and innovation among other Adventist schools.
Recipient: Karen Dunbar
San Antonio Christian Academy aims to transform the TK–8th grade school environment by establishing an Innovation and Design Thinking Lab. The core goal is to shift the school culture so that "Design Time" becomes the intrinsic way students experience the curriculum. This will be achieved by integrating the Design Thinking process with problem-based learning to address real-life challenges. The proposal was selected for its strong community focus, seamless integration of faith and curriculum, and its potential as a practical, scalable model for small schools with fewer technology resources.
