Wiggin Street Parent Update
October 31, 2025
Better Together and Reaching for the Stars!
Dear Wiggin Street Families,
Our tradition continued this week with the annual Fall Harvest Parade. Students loved dressing up and sharing their costumes with all of you. If you were unable to attend—no worries! Ms. Waugh recorded each grade level; the videos are linked below. Thank you to everyone who sent in treats for the class parties. We appreciate the generous support of our school community!
Fourth grade traveled to the Memorial Theater for their YES Concert. Don’t miss the video in this update—our students show off the moves they learned, and it looks like they had a great time.
Third graders took their Fall Ohio State Tests this week, and we are so proud of their effort. We reminded students that they can do hard things, and they truly showed what they know. Thank you for helping your children get good rest and a healthy breakfast.
You’ll also find additional photos from Lt. Gov. Tressel’s visit to Wiggin Street. His office shared professional pictures that we’re excited to pass along. We’ve been told it’s possible that Ted Ginn Jr. may visit, depending on his schedule and the continued excitement around the challenge. Round 1 ends December 7, and Round 2 begins in February and will include third grade. Let’s go!
At Wednesday Morning Fitness, students had a blast playing dodgeball with members of the Kenyon Golf Team. They learned the basic rules: a player is out if they are hit by a thrown ball; if a player catches a thrown ball, the thrower is out and a teammate who was out may return. The team with the last player standing wins. This video has pictures from each morning fitness activity as well as from the Lt. Governor's visit.
Next Wednesday, Bryn Carrigan, a Kenyon College senior, will lead students in yoga. All are welcome to attend!
Also next week are Parent/Teacher Conferences, and I highly recommend that each student has a family member participate. Conferences are a great time to learn about your child’s strengths and needs. Please email your child’s teacher or call the office to schedule a time. “Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success story.” — Josh Shipp
While you are at the school for conferences, please check out the Lost and Found. Also, the weather has become colder, so students are in need of coats, hats, and gloves. Please let us know if your student is in need of any of these to keep warm this winter. We do get generous donations and would love to help.
Lastly, at the end of this update you’ll find a notice from United Way of Knox County’s Resource Navigation Program regarding federal SNAP funds being frozen or delayed in November. We’ve included resources for hot meals and food pantries below the notice. If you find yourself in need, please contact Mrs. Carlson, Social Worker, or the office. We will connect you with community partners who are ready to help. We are Better Together!
Warm regards,
Christy Grandstaff

Lt. Gov. Tressel's Visit to Wiggin Street: “Macte virtute”
Lt. Gov. Tressel's Team Fitness Challenge: Wednesday Morning Fitness
The Kenyon Golf Team visited this Wednesday, and played Dodgeball with the students. Mr. Evans did a great job of keeping track of who was out, who caught a ball, and which student could go back in.
Next week, Bryn Carrigan, Kenyon College senior, will be doing Yoga with students. ALL are welcome to attend!
Mrs. Treber's Class Exploration of the Sequoia Tree
3rd grade students read about the Sequoia tree in their Wonders shared read. To visualize the size of the tree they recreated the size of the tree on the playground. They also learned about radius, diameter, and circumference in the process.

2025-26 Yearbook Art Contest Winners
Congratulations to the 2025-26 Yearbook Art Contest Winners! There were so many wonderful artworks to choose from this year but these girls went above and beyond and exemplified what it means as artists to reach for the stars! A big congratulations to Anna Reese Glandon (5th grade) who is the front cover winner and Nory Wright (5th grade) and Eliza Wolf (3rd grade) who are the back cover winners.
5th Grade Catapults and Pumpkins
Mrs. Croswell’s Science classes built catapults to launch candy pumpkins today. Then, they tested them, collected data, and reflected on the changes made during the testing phase.
Kiwanis Reads
Thank you to Mrs. Biros, Kiwanis Reader, for coming to Mrs. Sanders’ kindergarten class and reading to the students today. They also received a bookmark to color.
Art to Remember
The Art to Remember fundraiser continues through November 14th. Don't forget to order a special keepsake of your child's artwork.
Lost and Found
It's that time of year! Please remind your child to look at the Lost in Found that is in the hallway leading to the cafeteria for their lost items. Thanks for your help!
Coats for Kids: We are accepting donations for children in need.
