We are happy that so many of our band students are participating in other activities.

• Football - Attend band after their practices.
• Water polo - Attend band before/after water polo.
• Tennis - Attend band around try-outs.
• ROTC - Attend band on Tuesday and Friday from 9:30 - 11:30 am. Join band after ROTC each day.
• Senior pictures - Attend band after your pictures (please tell Mr. Keyes when your pictures are if you have not already).

We are kicking off our WiddyUp fundraiser on Tuesday from 3-4 pm. This is a donation based fundraiser. This fundraiser will raise money for our props this year, and we need your help to make it a success. Students need to bring in names and phone numbers of at least 6 friends and family members.

We are taking band pictures on Friday, August 4 from 1 to 4 pm. Sam Roberts Photography is taking our pictures. They offer a discount if you order before picture day. Click here to order. Our color guard will be wearing their summer uniforms. We will schedule another picture date to take pictures in our costumes once they arrive.

Band students need to bring these items with them on Friday.

• Marching shoes
• Long black socks
• Performance gear - compression shorts and shirt
• Gloves (will be passed out this week before pictures)
• No makeup is allowed in uniform

Color Guard students need to bring these items with them on Friday.

• DHS summer uniform shirt
• Black Nike capris (will be given out this week)
• Black jazz shoes (will be given out this week)
• No show black socks
• Hair down and styled
• Red lipstick
• Black eyeliner
• Black mascara
• All other makeup optional but must use neutral colors

No jewelry or unnatural hair colors are allowed in uniform for band or color guard.

Capris have been ordered for all color guard students. These are the capris that were ordered.

Color guard students, please bring in cash or a check for $55 to Davenort Band Boosters for the capris. You may also pay the $55 here using a credit card.

Shoes were passed out to band students on Friday afternoon. Please let us know if you need a different size or if you would like to place an order. We will be placing an order next weekend.

Students, please download the UDBapp on your phone for rehearsal. We will use this app to learn drill. The license is paid for by the “Fair Share” Fee. We will start using the app Tuesday morning.

An email went out this morning through Rank One to all students that have not completed their physicals or forms. Please log in a take care of these asap. Students who do not complete all forms on Rank One or turn in a physical will not be allowed to attend the first football game. All students are required to complete the school instrument usage form to be eligible, even if not using a school owned instrument.

Here is a final list of all rehearsals during summer band after this week. We adjusted two dates due to the teacher in-service schedule - August 10th and 11th. All other dates are the same as what was handed out at the June Parent Meeting.

For iPhones

1. Go into the Settings app
2. Touch "Accounts & Passwords"
3. On the Accounts & Passwords screen, touch "Add Account"
4. On the Add Account screen, touch "Other"
5. Under Calendars, touch "Add Subscribed Calendar"
6. For the Server value, enter the URL of the public calendar:

7. Touch "Next" in the upper right corner.
8. It will verify the server then show a subscription page. Change the description if you like.
9. Touch "Save" to save the subscription

For Android Phones

To sync with Android devices, you will need to use your Google account and have a Google calendar created.

In your Google calendar on a real computer:

1. Under "Other Calendars" click the Add link.
2. Select "Add by URL"
3. Enter the following URL:

4. Click "Add Calendar"
5. Google will begin to sync your calendar, and it will appear on the screen.
6. Click "Settings"
7. Change the long name of the new calendar to something you will remember such as "Charms Calendar"
8. Your phone should automatically be set to sync with your Google calendar.
9. On your phone: Click on "Calendar", then bring up the settings for the calendar. Click on Calendar Sync. You should see your google account listed already. Make sure Auto-Sync is checked.

Our battery (snares, basses, tenors, cymbals) has been asked to play at the following events. Please add these events to you calendar if you are in the battery. We will meet at Davenport HS for these performances. We will wear our summer uniforms ordered from TMF - black shorts, grey polos, marching shoes, no show black socks, and band ball cap.

August 12 - Garden Ridge Market Days Performance, Battery and SLT, 11 am - Noon

August 17 - Comal Creek Elementary School Dedication, 6 pm

Our battery (snares, basses, tenors, cymbals) and Student Leadership Team have been asked to perform at the Comal ISD Opening of Schools on August 16th. Transportation will be provided from Davenport HS.

There is a rehearsal for the winter guard SLT on August 15th. We will meet at Canyon HS at 7:30 am and we will be back at 1 pm. Lunch will be provided.

Color Guard sectionals with be Tuesday morning instead of Wednesday morning once school starts.

Rehearsals on August 7th, 9th, 14th are now 3 pm to 8 pm. We will take a break before everyone starts at 5 so bring a snack.

Region music for all instruments can be found at the link below. Please make sure you are looking a Year C and reading the cover sheet to see if there are cuts to your instrument's etudes.

• November 4 - Brandeis Drumline Competition (drumline, drum majors, and soloist only)

Fee payments can be made at any time to Mr Keyes or online.
