Homework Club

Homework Club started on Monday and will run until the end of November. Many thanks to all the teachers - Ms. Clack, Ms. O’Rourke, Mr. Healy and SNAs who help to run our Homework Club. The girls really enjoy it and best of all, they get all their homework finished. We know there are some girls looking for places so if any come up during the year, we will contact you!

Student Council Student Council

We have a new Student Council for this school year. Our 6th class members were so impressive last year, that they are all remaining on the council for another year. Joining them this year, from 6th class we have Alana Norris, Michaela Davitt, Aan Mariya Saji and from 5th class, Annabelle Maughan, Ella Molloy, Lillie Martin and Millie O' Shaughnessy. We are looking forward to hearing all their ideas for how to make St. Eithne's an even better place to be!

Classroom News Classroom News

2nd Class

2nd Class have been working hard at settling into our new school and classroom. The girls have settled in well and they are so happy and proud of themselves! We have been learning all about people who work in our community and what we might like to be when we grow up. The girls are also incredibly talented at art and have been working on self-portraits, tying in with our theme of Mé Féin in Gaeilge and exploring colour mixing using pointillism in Art.

3rd Class

3rd class have had a great start to the new school year. They have settled back in really well, are enjoying their new classroom and both their teachers are loving getting to know them.

The girls have really been enjoying their novel Sleepovers in English, playing lots of games in Maths, learning about different landscapes in Geography, exploring minibeasts and fingerprints in Science, chatting about positive emotions in Weaving Wellbeing for SPHE and throwing, catching and passing as well as some GAA with Anto for PE.

It has been a busy month with lots of laughs and hard work too. We can't wait to see what next month brings.

4th Class

We have had such a busy month settling into 4th class. The girls have been working super hard and have shown a great sense of togetherness since returning to school. We have really enjoyed learning all about place value and rounding in Maths, and schools in the past as part of our SESE programme where we compared our school to those in 1960s Ireland. We have also been focusing on taking care of our wellbeing and learned all about a fixed/growth mindset. We are a very artistic bunch and have had fun expressing our individuality and creativity through art, especially when we created self portraits. The girls are really excited to perform an Irish poem they have learned at our assembly this week, it is very impressive. We are looking forward to another productive month ahead in October!

5th Class

We have had a fantastic start to 5th class. It is great to see everyone coming back to school with smiles on their faces ready to learn. The class have spent the month learning all about homes in the past and also building materials that were used. We based our art lesson on the theme of houses and created a cityscape inspired by the artist James Rizzi.

We have also started our class novel Charlottes Web and look forward to finding out how the story unfolds.

6th Class

After returning from the summer holidays, the girls in 6th Class have settled extremely well into school life! We’ve been working on setting goals for the school year, discussing their new responsibilities as the oldest students in the school, and focusing on having a great start to their last year of primary school! We’ve also had some lovely visitors from local secondary schools who answered all our questions about what to expect this time next year!

We’ve been looking at recount writing during our Literacy lessons and have written some fantastic pieces of work, including postcards and diary entries. In History, we have been learning about some famous astronomers, such as Galileo Galilei and Nicolaus Copernicus, and how their discoveries about the universe changed the way we see the world!

We’ve had great fun practising our GAA skills with Anto on Fridays. Many girls in our class are on the school GAA team and have begun playing matches as part of Cumann na mBunscol. They played amazingly in their first match last week, and we can’t wait to see how they get on this year!

Ms. Reede's Class

Ms. Reede's class are making great use of their new outdoor space with lots of water play and chalk boards.

Ms. Glavin's Class

We have been working on the theme "All about me" in class and answering social questions about ourselves. We also have been having lots of fun doing simple science experiments with plant dyes and growing plants.
