Dear Hoover Families,

As we approach Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible dedication, care, and talent of our Hoover staff. Every day, our staff go above and beyond to support the academic growth and well-being of each child—and now, I’d love your help in honoring them.

This week is the perfect opportunity to let our staff know just how much their efforts matter. I invite you to share a note, story, or message about how a Hoover staff member has positively impacted your child’s academic journey this year. Whether it’s a breakthrough in reading, a boost in confidence in math, or a moment of encouragement that made all the difference—your words of appreciation can mean the world to our educators.

You can send your message to me by email (mmeyer1@isd77.org), written note, or by using this Google Form link (https://forms.gle/JJnLHYnZDjSRUSk88) . We will be sharing your kind words with staff throughout the week to celebrate the powerful difference they make every day.

Thank you for partnering with us and for helping to make Teacher Appreciation Week a meaningful celebration for our Hoover team. Your support and gratitude will make this week even more special.

With appreciation,

With appreciation,

Mollie

We are proud of all of our Huskies who have earned and will earn a ticket to a Moondog's game in May. Our Hoover night will officially be on Tuesday, May 27th (though the ticket is good for one of 3 game options that are listed on the tickets). Students' families will need to accompany their child if they are attending and can purchase their ticket on the Moondog's website.

5th Grade DMMS Transition Update 5th Grade DMMS Transition Update

We’re excited to welcome students to middle school and want to make sure families feel informed and supported as we approach the start of the school year. The first day of school for our incoming 6th graders will be Monday, August 26. On this day, 6th grade students will have the building to themselves—a great opportunity to ease into middle school life. They’ll spend the day getting comfortable with their new surroundings, practicing locker combinations, walking through their schedules, and building connections with teachers and classmates. While the optional 6th grade transition camp is no longer taking place in the middle of summer break, this first-day experience is designed to offer all students similar support in a more focused, real-time setting.

Our 7th and 8th grade students will join us starting Tuesday, August 27. We’ve heard a few questions from families and elementary school staff about the transition camp, so we wanted to provide this update and will continue to communicate clearly as the first day approaches. We’re looking forward to a great start to the year for all of our students!

Walk and Bike to School Day Walk and Bike to School Day

Wednesday, May 7th, Hoover Spring Bike or Walk to School Day!

National Walk and Bike to School Day is an exciting annual event that encourages students, parents, and communities to embrace a healthier, more sustainable way of getting to school. Held in the fall and spring, this event promotes physical activity, environmental consciousness, and community engagement.

Students who do not walk or bike to school will have the chance to walk laps around the concrete of the playground. There will be a cone path set up for them to walk in order to count as a student who walked that morning!
