McKinney-Vento Newsletter 1st 9wks 2025
✨ Welcome to the First Newsletter of the 2025–2026 School Year!
We’re excited to kick off a new year with our very first CSW Department newsletter. Each edition will highlight upcoming events, share local resources, and provide opportunities to get connected and engaged with our community.
The Counseling and Social Work (CSW) Department is here to support students, families, and staff through resources, programs, and community connections.
🏠 Support for Families Through the McKinney-Vento Act
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act is a law that helps students and families who may be living in temporary housing because of financial hardship. This support makes sure children can stay in school, even if a family is moving between homes, staying with relatives, or living in other short-term housing situations.
Through this program, families may receive help with things like school enrollment and connecting to local resources—so students can focus on learning and thriving.
Qualifying under McKinney Vento supports with
- Free and Reduced Lunch Program
- Reduced Technology Fees
- SAT/ACT Fee Waivers
- Reduced Extended School Day Fees (depends on program availabilty)
- Resources to keep McKinney-Vento students at their current campus when possible
- Additional touchpoints of information throughout the year
