Principal Message
Look at that, It's December and the countdown to Christmas is here! Speaking of which our Christmas concert is on the 17th at 6pm. This year we are doing an adaptation of the Charles Dicken's classic A Christmas Carol with our classes performing various songs as part of the event. Work has been ongoing with Mrs. Kowalchuck, Ms. Corcoran, and Mr. Stoyles to make the event magical. We will again be doing our Christmas Concert bake sale, please see the poster below for more information.
This past week we Wildwood School hosted a meeting of the Ad Hoc committee looking at bussing of Wildwood students to the amalgamated Grand Trunk school. Board Chair/Lobstick Trustee Melodie Boblick, Trustee Tracy Acorn, Director Christine Van Neck, Wildwood School Council Chair Carla Gylander, bus drivers Jim Akers and Natasja Steinbusch, GTHS Principal Heidi Zadderey, and Wildwood Principal Alan Stoyles. Discussed concerns and potential plans for bussing staring next year. We will be meeting again on January 20th.
As we move into the next couple of weeks there will be lots going on. On December 10th We have class photos and photo retakes for the school. It will also be Mrs Chechotko's last day working with the 2/3 and 4 classes. She will be returning later this school year to work with our Grade K/1 class.
On December 11th our annual Christmas Raffle will be occurring, thank you to School Council for sponsoring and purchasing gifts.
On December 12th we will be going skating in Evansburg, we will also have crafts and the gym as students rotate between stations. Parents are invited to join us. We will be leaving the school at 11:30 and back around 2:30. A PDF of the permission slip is below. There will still be Hotdogs available for purchase despite the need for an earlier lunch time.

Do you have any spare snow pants, hats or waterproof gloves you would be willing to donate to the school, especially in sizes for our younger students? Please drop off at the office.
Wildwood students love to shovel snow and we are always in need of shovels. If you have any you would like to donate to the school please drop off at the office.
With weather dropping into the negatives it is important that students are fully dressed for winter including gloves, hats, snow pants, and boots. Outside recess continues until we hit a combined windchill/actual temperature of -20, please dress accordingly. It is a great idea to have some extra hats and gloves included with students extra clothes in their lockers.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out by calling the school at 780-325-3858 or emailing me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca

Spotlight on School Improvement: Math Goal Success
With disruptions to our school year our School Continuous Improvement Plan is later than usual in coming out. However I can tell you that we are continuing our focus on Math this year, while maintaining the excellent work in ELA we have been doing. Students showed impressive growth in Math over the last year with 74% of students meeting or exceeding the goal of one years growth from our fall screens to spring screens, approximately 8 months apart. 54% of students significantly exceeded this goal in the same period. This shows meaningful improvement in Math understanding and will help students on their academic journey and in life.

Another good week with our little crew!
Thank you to Brightwood Ranch for hot breakfast on Thursday!
This week we worked on the letters A, B and C.
We practiced our song for the Christmas Concert.
We also enjoyed a lot of combined time with our friends in the K/1 class!
We are gearing up for the next couple weeks of Christmas activities, very exciting!
See attached photos.
NOTES:
1. With temperatures dropping, please be sure to send appropriate winter gear with your child. The kids do go outside for a 15 min recess each day.
If you have extra hats, gloves etc, that could stay in their lockers, that's great, but not necessary, but please be sure to send some for the day.

FOPLS
Our students from Evansview, Wildwood, and Grand Trunk High School are coming together under one roof — and we want to make sure they have a playground that brings them together too!
The Friends of Pembina Learning Society (FOPLS) is running a raffle fundraiser to help create a fun, safe, and engaging space where kids can play, grow, and make memories for years to come.
Your support will help make this playground a place our children are proud to call their own!
