Welcome to an exciting new chapter in your child's educational journey! Over the next few months, we will embark on the adventure of preparing for the 2026-2027 school year together. This newsletter is designed to help you explore the many opportunities awaiting your soon-to-be middle schooler, from engaging courses to exciting extracurriculars. You’ll also find a helpful guide to navigating the course selection process, ensuring your child is set up for a successful start in secondary school.

  January 20th - January 26th - MS Counselors visit 5th graders to present course selection information and distribute course selection forms

  
  

  January 14th - January 23rd - Instrument Fitting visits to elementary schools (include your ES feeder information for your newsletter)

  
  

  January 27th - 5th grade students will attend MS Showcase at Hudson Bend MS (LWE, SHE, LTE)

  
  

  January 29th - 5th grade students will attend MS Showcase at Bee Cave MS (BCE, LPE)

  
  

  January 30th - 5th grade students will attend MS Showcase at Lake Travis MS (RHE, SHE, WCHE)

  
  

  January 29th - Rising 6th Grade Parent Night, 5:30pm (same for each campus)

  
  

  February 2nd - February 6th:

  • Window for rising 6th graders to enter course information into Skyward with counselors at school

  • Students will bring completed, and parent/guardian signed, course selection sheets to school

January 21st - LTMS Principal and Counselors will visit 5th grade students at SHE

January 22nd - LTMS Principal and Counselors will visit 5th grade students at RHE and WCHE

• Counselor and Principal present to all 5th grade students about the course selection process, course options and what to expect as a middle school student
• 5th grade students will be able to ask Counselor and Principal questions they may have
• 5th grade teachers will provide course selection sheets during the counselor visit

• Instrument Fitting Schedule can be found HERE. Please include your feeder elementary information in this section

  
  

  • Band and Orchestra directors will visit our feeder elementaries for instrument fittings.

  • The purpose of these fittings is to give students hands-on experience with various instruments in order to make an informed decision about their elective choices.

  • All 5th graders will explore different instruments, but this does not automatically place them into band or orchestra. When selecting courses, they will get to choose between band, orchestra, choir, theatre, and art for their required Fine Arts elective.

Date: January 30

Time: 9-11am

Location: LTMS (students will be bused over to LTMS)

• 5th grade students visit LTMS during the school day and experience each of the Fine Arts electives they can choose from.
• One of the rotations will be by Principal Hudson giving students an overview of middle school.
• This is a student-only event.

Date: January 29

Time: 5:30-6:15pm

Location: LTMS Cafeteria

• Principal Hudson and counselors will present all important information for rising 6th grade course selections
• You will learn about middle school opportunities, an overview of school logistics, how to select courses, and how to make informed decisions on what courses are best for your student.

• February 2nd - 6th: Window to Enter Course Selections in Skyward with Counselor

  
  

  • Students will enter their course selections with their counselor at school. Course selections will be entered based off of the information provided on the student’s course selection sheet that they have signed by their parent or guardian.

  • Students will not enter course selections at home with their parents on Skyward.
