From the Desk of Dr. D.

Dear Riverview Families,

It has been a fast and action-packed first quarter, and we have had a fantastic start to the school year! Our team has worked diligently to ensure that students are learning at high levels, supported in their learning of our behavior standards, and have a strong sense of belonging while here at school. I can honestly tell you, this is the best team of educators that I have worked with, and each of us work to get better every day.

Thank you for being an important part of Riverview’s community. We are honored to play a role in your students' lives and journeys, and we show up each day with the intention of making this our best year yet!

Sincerely,

John Dumbleton

Understanding What College May Really Cost

Dear Riverview Families,

When families begin thinking about college, one of the hardest questions is also one of the most basic:

What will college really cost our family?

The price listed on a college's website does not always tell the whole story. Some families may qualify for need-based financial aid, some students may receive merit scholarships, and other families may expect to pay most or all of the cost themselves. In every situation, families still have important decisions to make about how to use savings, current income, scholarships, financial aid, and borrowing over four years.

To help families better understand the financial side of college, Mountain View High School is offering an educational workshop:

Little Known Secrets of Paying for College

Presented by Mark DeBord, CFP®, with The College Funding Coach

Date: Wednesday, October 21

Time: 6:00pm

Location: Mountain View High School

Topics will include:

- How a college's published price can differ from what a family actually pays

- How income and assets may affect financial-aid eligibility

- Planning considerations for families who expect little or no need-based aid

- Ways different college-paying resources can work together

- How to plan for college while still considering retirement and other financial priorities

The goal of this workshop is to give families a clearer framework for thinking about college costs and the questions they may want to consider before making financial decisions.

Additional details and registration are available here

We hope this will be a helpful resource for your family.

“How Sick Is Too Sick”

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we work together to maintain a healthy and safe learning environment for all students and staff, we ask for your continued partnership in keeping students home when they are sick.

Our school community includes students with a variety of health needs and circumstances. While we respect every family’s privacy, illnesses that may be manageable for one student can have a greater impact on others. For this reason, it is especially important that we all take reasonable steps to limit the spread of illness within our school.

Please follow the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) “How Sick Is Too Sick” guidance when determining whether your student should attend school. This simple step helps reduce the spread of illness and supports a safe learning environment for everyone.

In general, students should remain home when they are experiencing symptoms that could be contagious, are not well enough to comfortably participate in normal school activities, require more care than school staff can reasonably provide, or have an illness or symptoms for which exclusion from school is recommended.

For additional information, please review the CDPHE How Sick Is Too Sick guidance or contact the school health office with questions about when your student should return to school.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping our school community healthy, safe, and ready to learn.

Sincerely,

Megan Dupont, RN, BSN
