Principal's Message From Dr. Otway
Leading with Excellence
Dear College Park Families,
We’ve made it through August, and September is here! The first month of school tested our routines, resilience, and readiness, and together we’ve built a strong foundation for success.
This month, we are focused on finishing our Strong Start. With just nine days left in this push, we are encouraging students to:
-
Show up every day – attendance matters.
-
Follow school routines – consistency creates success.
-
Celebrate learning – joy and growth go hand in hand.
At College Park, we believe in habits that last a lifetime: Think Win-Win, Begin With the End in Mind, and Put First Things First. These habits guide not only our students, but all of us as a community.
Thank you for your continued partnership. Your support at home makes all the difference in our ability to reach our goals and lead with excellence.
With gratitude and belief,
Dr. Maisha N. Otway
Principal, College Park Elementary School

Leader in Me Corner
At College Park Elementary, we begin each day with Leader in Me lessons during the first 15 minutes of class. This dedicated time allows all scholars to build leadership skills, develop positive habits, and grow socially and emotionally. Rooted in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Leader in Me empowers students to take ownership of their learning and actions preparing them to lead both in school and in life.
Parents as Partners
This Week’s Leadership in Me Focus
Check out this week’s Leader in Me Article of the Week: Parents as Partners! As a Leader in Me School, we believe that families play a vital role in a child’s success not just in academics, but in their growth as leaders and individuals. This week’s article highlights the importance of the home school connection and reminds us that when parents and teachers work together, students thrive.

Uniform Policy/Assistance
Uniform Support
We want every student to feel confident and ready for school each day.
If your family could use assistance with school uniforms, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
You can email call us at 470-254-8040. Let us know, and we’ll do our best to provide assistance and support.
Uniform Infractions
We want all students to receive the support they need in order to strengthen our community through color codes and uniforms, which build a strong sense of belonging. Beginning this week, our Dean of Students, Dr. Richards, will address uniform infractions.
Out of Uniform Consequence
1. Student will be given a white uniform top/bottoms change into for the school day.
2. Teacher will contact parents to gain clarity on the status of uniform or needs.
3. Student will change back into original clothes at the end of the day.
We kindly ask parents once again to partner with us by ensuring students arrive in uniform daily and providing assistance as needed.
