UPCOMING NO SCHOOL DAY

REMINDER: There is no school TOMORROW, Friday, November 6.

QUIZ BOWL RESULTS

Last weekend, two Irondale teams competed at a Burnsville High School quiz bowl tournament. Sophomore, Hank O'Hara won 2nd place out of 92 competitors in individual scoring. Both Irondale teams were highly competitive. There are many competitions throughout the winter, the next being on Saturday, November 21.

Quiz bowl is an academic buzzer game where teams compete by answering questions from a wide range of subjects like history, literature, science and current events. Players must use quick thinking and fast reflexes to buzz in and answer toss-up questions, and teams also have opportunities to work together on bonus questions after winning a toss-up.

Practice is held from 3:35-4:45pm on Wednesdays in Conference Room 111. It is not too late to sign up! If you are interested, but the new practice times don't work for you please email. Anyone can join!! If you have any questions email: erica.ohara@moundsviewschools.org

JOIN THE SPEECH TEAM

The first speech team meeting is on Tuesday, November 10, from 3:25-4:30pm in the IMC.

Students in speech develop their confidence and public speaking skills. Nationwide research shows that participation in high school speech leads to higher GPAs and more competitive college applications.

Last year, the Irondale speech team placed 1st in Section 4AA and 1st in the SEC conference. The team had 62 members, including 1 MSHSL state champion and 8 students who qualified for the national tournament. This is a great group to be a part of, so come see what it is all about!

Talk to Mr. Blechert in the IMC or Mr. Gray in room 319 with any questions.
