This week provided an opportunity to celebrate excellence across all grade levels during our annual award ceremonies. We are proud of the many students who were recognized for their academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, and contributions to our school community. These students exemplify our Spartan core values of Respect, Responsibility, Readiness, and Resilience and help strengthen the positive culture that makes The Lake such a special place.
Included are photos from several events that helped make this week special. On Tuesday, we welcomed future Spartans during our annual 5th Grade Visitation. Students toured the building, met staff and current students, and learned more about life at Springton Lake Middle School. We look forward to welcoming them next year.
We also celebrated our Student-Athlete Scholars, recognizing students who have successfully balanced academic excellence with participation in athletics. Their dedication in the classroom and in competition reflects the very best of what it means to be a Spartan. Speaking of sports, our new synthetic track and football field project is officially underway as crews broke ground this week!
Another highlight was our annual Civil War reenactor program, which provided students with a firsthand look at this important period in American history.
Finally, we extend our congratulations and gratitude to Susan Howe and Jennie Ekstrom, who were recognized at this week's School Board meeting in recognition of their retirements. Their years of service, commitment to students, and positive impact on our school community have created a lasting legacy that will continue to be felt at Springton Lake for years to come.
Sincerely,
Ryan Buterbaugh
Celebrating Our 8th Grade Students

Scholar Athlete Luncheon
Our recipients are Mia Schneider and Santiago Lucente.
At Springton Lake, we emphasize that students are students first and athletes second. Mia and Santiago have exceeded those expectations through their outstanding commitment to academics, athletics, and leadership. Both earned excellent grades throughout the year while serving as positive role models for their peers.
Their coaches consistently recognized their integrity, sportsmanship, and dedication, making them exemplary representatives of what it means to be a Spartan student-athlete.
Spartan Bucks - Mega Prize Table
Our final opportunity of the school year for our students to redeem their Spartan Bucks will take place on Monday, June 8th. Each team will have a chance to visit the "Mega Prize Table" that afternoon. Students earn Spartan Bucks from their teachers and other school staff when they demonstrate the 4Rs - Ready, Respectful, Responsible, & Resilient.

F.A.R.E.
Rose Tree Media School District is committed to improving our society today, and for future generations, through outstanding education, awareness, and appreciation of all people. We work to carry out this mission by exhibiting respect for diversity among our student body, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual identity, disability, socioeconomic class, and religion. The mission of F.A.R.E. is to promote and encourage diversity awareness, provide family support, engage in networking, and create deeper unity and understanding within the Rose Tree Media School District and the surrounding community.
Click on the FARE Information document to learn about upcoming opportunities to get involved and meeting information.
Please also refer to the school calendar for meeting dates and any rescheduling.
Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
To keep classrooms focused and learning uninterrupted, all wireless devices, including cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, and similar devices, must be OFF and AWAY during the school day unless a teacher gives a specific academic reason to use them. Students will be reminded each morning to power down their devices.
Please let your child know that you will not be texting or calling during school hours. If a student needs to reach a parent, a staff member can provide permission. In an emergency, the main office is the best way to get in touch. More details are available in the Springton Lake Student Handbook.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, distraction-free learning environment!
