Assistant Principal's Corner

LMS Families,

Overall, we have had a very good start to the year when it comes to behaviors. Our referral numbers are a little up from last year, but I truly believe that is because we continue to raise our expectations. Students continue to do a great job with their decision making on a daily basis. Cell phones continue to be a non issue due to our students' cooperation with no cell phones in class. I always appreciate it when I open up a student's locker and their cell phone is sitting there. We are very thankful that our students' comply with this rule and our parents' support it.

With that said, it still is a middle school with just under 600 students here, so we know things are going to happen. We will continue to address inappropriate behavior and make tough decisions when we have to when it comes to mistakes that are made. Our expectations are high and they will continue to rise. We look forward to celebrating our students with zero referrals towards the beginning of November in our first of many Zero Referral Club celebrations this school year. Please continue to have conversations with your students about what is appropriate and what is not appropriate to do and talk about in school. It helps us more than you know, especially at this age!

As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at lbelill@lindenschools.org.

Counselor's Corner

October is National Bullying Prevention Month and we have planned several initiatives to help bring attention to this important cause.

  • Bully Prevention Presentations: Our counselors and social worker will be presenting to the 6th grade Social Studies classes on the topic of bullying prevention. We believe that education and awareness are key in fostering a safe environment for our students.

  • No Place for Hate Initiatives:

    • Students will have the opportunity to pledge for inclusion and stand up against bullying. We encourage everyone to participate in this vital initiative.
    • A spirit week will be hosted by No Place for Hate during the week of October 20th to help strengthen our school community. We look forward to seeing everyone’s school spirit! More details will follow soon.
  • Unity Day Celebration: Join us on Wednesday, October 22nd, as we celebrate Unity Day! We ask everyone to wear orange to show unity against bullying. This day has been recognized nationally since 2011 and aims to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Let’s come together as a school community to stand up against bullying!

Thank you for encouraging your children to engage in these crucial conversations and activities!

Thank you!
