Message from Principal Groves - Week of April 15, 2024
Dear Blacklick Families:
I hope you had a wonderful spring break and enjoyed time with your family. It is hard to believe that we only have 6 full weeks of the school year left. The weeks are action packed as we have a lot of activities planned in each grade level. Please make sure to read communication from classroom teachers as they will be providing details for our end of the year events.
Ohio State Testing continues this week in grades 3 and 4. The testing schedule is listed below:
April 16: Grade 4 ELA Part 1
April 17: Grade 4 ELA Part 2
April 18: Grade 3 ELA Part 1
April 19: Grade 3 ELA Part 2
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at 614-759-5100 or by email at grovesk@gjps.org.
Respectfully,
Kristen Groves
April is designated Month of the Military Child to honor the contributions and sacrifices of our military families. Show your support for all military kids by wearing purple on National Purple Up Day, our first day back from spring break on April 15, 2024.

Library Update in Kindergarten
Our whole school has been celebrating National Library Week (which is really next week) but April is School Library Month! We have been talking about how lucky we are to choose from so many books and we talked briefly about our Gahanna branch, which we’ll discuss again in May with Summer Reading.
Music Update in Kindergarten
Kindergarteners have been working so hard on learning to properly play xylophones. We have learned “1-2 Buckle My Shoe”, “Chip Chop!”, and “There Were 10 in the Bed”. The kids love it! Continue to encourage your students to sing the songs they learn in music class for you at home!

Blacklick PRIDE Partner PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization)
The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2024 in the library at 6:30 PM.
The Blacklick PRIDE Partner PTO has complied a list of the staff's favorite things. It is important to understand the teachers are not asking for gifts. We know that many parents might want to get their child's teacher a gift and this list is to help you select something the teacher would like. Please do not feel obligated to buy a gift for your child's teachers/staff members. A thoughtful note from you and/or your child at any time of the year is appreciated just as much or more as any gift.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Karen Davidson, PTO President, at ptoblacklick@gmail.com.
