January in the Moxley Music Room
Happy New Year!
Pop music is on the rise at Watertown High
Hello! Happy new year, I am so happy to be writing this newsletter! With the new semester starting, a new slate of classes will begin at Moxley: Advanced Levels of music technology and guitar, as well as modern music ensemble (rock band). As our audience saw on our inaugural concert, the pop music program at Watertown is off with a bang, with only good things to come; our modern music ensemble has already been invited to a battle of the bands (albeit, against Cuniff fifth graders). I am SO looking forward to getting our fabulous student musicians out in the community as frequently as possible, so please keep your eyes peeled for the Watertown pop program - you do NOT want to miss these kids' music.
Guitar Class Plays Back Up Band to Faculty Singers
A featured act in our Jan. 23rd Concert were teacher karaoke performances! Brave volunteers from the ESL, Math and Science department joined guitar classes to sing hits by Ben. E King, Avril Lavigne, Taylor Swift and more!
Music Tech Album Release Pending
Our final project for the semester was to compile a class album out of all the group and individual projects developed over the last month of the term. "Root Beer Music" should be out by mid to late February, so keep checking Spotify! Here's the opening track!
Collaborative Music Ensemble Brought the House Down
After lots of work on a rock and roll drum beat the Collaborative music ensemble (Joey Haggerty, Bobby Maguire, Gustavo DaSilva, Avery Macdonald, and Mr. Klein) performed a set at the Jan. 23rd concert consisting of Sunshine of Your Love, Highway to Hell, and Zombie.
