A Message from Mr. Dolce A Message from Mr. Dolce

Hello South Davis Families.

With support from the PTO, Wednesday and Thursday this week we welcome author Troy Cummings to South Davis. He will be meeting with all students to talk about his books, the art and craft of writing and illustrating, and all things creative.

A number of South Davis staff and families are riding again this year in honor or memory of family, friends, and former colleagues. Staff and/or families riding include Mrs. Whitney, Mrs. Martorana., Mrs. Washburn, and myself. If you are also riding, please let us know so we can look for you and cheer you on. If anyone is interested in supporting the effort of the Ride for Roswell, you can look up riders and donate.

As previously mentioned, the last look 👀 for Lost and Found items is on Friday, June 12, during the Art Show and Ice Cream Social. After that, unclaimed items will be donated or discarded.

Here's an interesting read about how adult actions can have a negative impact on our children. As a parent of four, I found it fascinating, and caused some self reflection.

While next year is still three months away, here's a reminder that the elementary start and end times are changing. School will begin at 9:10 and end at 3:15. Dismissal will begin around 3:20.

Have a great week!

Mr. Dolce

The South Davis PTO will be serving ice cream while visitors take a break from enjoying the MASTERPIECES. We are looking for volunteers to help serve and for hallway helpers to keep traffic flowing smoothly.

If you can give us a bit of your time!

Updates and Reminders Updates and Reminders

End of Day Pick-Up Reminders

  • Pre-K parents walk their children to and from the school. As a result, they need to park on South Davis Street. At the end of the day, if they are also picking up an older child, they may have to wait a bit longer.
  • If you are meeting your child on the sidewalk in front of the school, please mark your child a walker in the Parent Portal.
    • If you walked or biked to the building, that's great!
    • If you drove - and you are not a Pre-K parent - please be sure to park on the west side of South Davis Street (opposite side from the school), and use the crosswalk to and from the pick up area.
  • The curbside pick-up area should not be used for walkers. If you are getting out of your vehicle and you are not a Pre-K parent, please park on the other side of the street, or pull past the middle driveway to keep the pick-up zone clear.
  • If you are providing your tag #, then your child is a "pick-up" and you should stay in your vehicle at the curb.

As always, these are in place for the safety of all involved, and to ensure an efficient drop-off and dismissal process.
