Gifted Education Program Evaluation Gifted Education Program Evaluation

Mrs. Moore has been serving as our Gifted Educator during the current school year.

The goals for the Gifted Program are:

1. 80% of middle school and high school students will demonstrate self-

directed learning by pursuing a self-chosen research project.

2. Increase the number of students who remain in the program in the middle school. This will be accomplished by more conversations with classroom teachers of the importance of students participating in order that their learning needs are met.

3. Elementary students will demonstrate more confidence and risk-taking

skills in order to pursue leadership positions as they grow through the school years

We want to thank Mrs. Moore for her service to this district! She announced at the Board Meeting her intent to retire (again) at the end of the school year.

The complete Gifted Program Report is available here.

New Board of Education Polices Approved New Board of Education Polices Approved

The Board of Education approved the following policy updates. This was the third reading of the policies. The full policies can be found in the district board policies on the website (mariesr2.org).

Policy 1422 - Advertising/Signage on District Property

New policy prohibits unauthorized placement of signage on district premises and provides guidelines of selling advertising rights on scoreboards, etc.

Policy 4560 Post-Retirement Options

A recent amendment of the PSRS rule involving certified staff post-retirement compensation necessitated an update renamed as Post-Retirement Options. This changed the earning possibility of a retired teacher from 60% of the minimum teacher's salary to 133% of the Social Security earnings limit for a person at full retirement age if they are working in a PEERS eligible position with the school district. It also changes the maximum salary to $29,685.60.

Policy and Regulation 6325 - Artificial Intelligence

This optional policy is to provide guidance as Al becomes increasingly included in instructional activities.

Athlete of the Month - Hayden Fann Athlete of the Month - Hayden Fann

Hayden is a freshman at Belle High School. She plays volleyball, is on the cheerleading team, and is on the dance team. Hayden works very hard in all of her practices and is a leader at practices, games, and in the classroom. We are happy to have her at Belle High School.
