Butler's Pledge: Be Respectful, Responsible, & Kind
Administrative Assistant Day on April 22nd!
On Administrative Professionals Day, we extend our sincere gratitude to our outstanding school secretaries. Your dedication, kindness, and behind‑the‑scenes problem solving keep our school running smoothly every day. We are truly thankful for all you do to support our students, staff, and families. Our school would not be the same without you!
Important Information
E-Bikes, Bicycle, E-Scooter, and Scooter Riding - Safety Standards and Expectations (Helmets)
With spring weather, there has been an increase in bike riding and scooters. A current concern is with students during arrival/dismissal. Pennsylvania state law requires all bicycle riders under the age of 12 to wear a helmet. This mandate applies to anyone operating a bicycle, riding as a passenger, or in an attached trailer or seat. Helmets must meet approved safety standards. While no law requires 12 years and older to wear a helmet, safety standards state how they protect lives.
Pennsylvania law states that individuals must be 16-years of age to ride an e-bike, while there is no law yet created for e-scooters. Therefore, no e-bikes should be ridden to Butler Elementary due to the age-restriction.
If your student rides to school, we encourage parents have a conversation with their child. Several students are riding their transports in the middle of the street during arrival and dismissal or weaving in and out of vehicles as cars are exiting during walker dismissal. We have reached out to parents in specific instances, but we want to avoid a tragedy with the increase of bike and scooter riders. For everyone who drives to school, please be cautious of student walkers and riders.
As a courtesy, please read the fact sheet below for requirements and safety standards. Information courtesy of the New Britain Township Police Department.
Butler Cell Phone/SMART Watch/Personal Device Policy
When in school, personal student cell phone/SMART Watch/device usage are to be silenced and remain in backpacks during the school day. In some instances, students need their device to monitor health status through each day, and this will remain in place. However, should there be a need for any student/home communication, it will take place with the support of the teacher/school office during the school day. These district expectations have been shared with students, and we appreciate your support with your children as we navigate each school day.
We invite you to watch a short video as a reminder about the guidelines for student use of cell phones and personal electronic devices, including smartwatches, in our schools.

PTO Butler Lip Synch Concert - 4/17
Butler 5th and 6th graders participated in the PTO Lip Sync on Friday, April 17. Students performed to popular songs in both individual and group acts. Teacher judges scored each performance across multiple categories, including choreography, accuracy, showmanship, and creativity.
To top off the night, a special surprise band took the stage to perform “Crazy Train,” stunning and thrilling the crowd! It was a fantastic evening—thank you to Mr. Bender, Mrs. Wilson, and Mrs. Temple for organizing and facilitating the event, and to the many parents who supported rehearsals throughout the week.
Butler Town Hall Meeting - Kindness - 4/17
On Friday, Butler held our final Town Hall Meeting Assembly on Friday, April 17th. We were excited to welcome our special guest speaker from the Roxy Therapy Dog Program. Phyllis Mikolaj, Vice President and Director of the School Program, visited with her therapy dog, Katie, to talk with students about how Roxy Therapy Dogs promote and spread KINDNESS. Kindness is one of our Butler Pledges, making this a meaningful and memorable experience for students. As a show of thanks, Butler Ambassadors created thank you cards for Ms. Mikolaj and Katie - thanking them for spending time with us this day! Roxy Readers support all 15 Central Bucks School District elementary schools by helping students build confidence, reduce anxiety, and grow a love of reading. Butler Earth Day - April 22
Butler celebrated Earth Day with a day of engaging, meaningful activities that inspired students to care for our planet. Classrooms explored Earth-friendly ideas that chose among read-aloud resources, thoughtful writing activities, and hands-on crafts. Students also showed their enthusiasm during Earth Day by wearing green or nature-themed shirts. The celebration culminated in a friendly cafeteria challenge where grade levels worked together to limit waste by avoiding disposable items and recycling, reinforcing teamwork and environmental responsibility. Congratulations to the 5th grade!
Heritage Conservancy Field Trip - 4th Grade
This week, our fourth graders enjoyed an exciting and educational field trip to Heritage Conservancy’s Russell‑Mandel Preserve on April 30 and May 1. Students explored the importance of conservation and local ecosystems through hands‑on learning, including studying seed adaptations and dispersal of native plants, observing pollinators, and examining aquatic macroinvertebrates from the preserve’s creek to better understand water quality. A guided meadow walk allowed students to see firsthand how plants and animals thrive through unique adaptations while deepening connections to our science curriculum. We are grateful to Heritage Conservancy for providing this meaningful and free learning experience that inspired students to appreciate and care for the natural world.
