The Inaugural HBGC Member Invitational The Inaugural HBGC Member Invitational

It was a battle to the end. Fighting off the competition, fatigue, and the impending darkness at the same time, our first-ever Invitational crowned a father-son team victorious. Congratulations to our 2026 champions, Derek and David Herbine! They survived #17 from the right bunker before winning a chip-off over Tom Corritore and Dave Shields, who took 3rd place. Despite stellar play from eventual runners-up, Jay Sackos and Dan Perry, the champs were able to secure victory with par on the second playing of hole 18 while a sizable gallery cheered them on.

It was also a fine tournament for the team of Brandon Brooks and Scot Maxwell, who scored more points than anyone else throughout the event. They were joined in the shootout by the Wild Card play-in team of Jim Barnett and Craig Masone. The play-in was an exciting moment of its own when Masone dropped a 25-footer for birdie to help his team move on. On the way to the green, he told me was going to "drain that thing." It was a huge make since brothers Kris and Brian Kuzmick, along with John Ciccarelli and Jim Nelson, had good looks at par.

It's never easy to play in front of a crowd, but all of this year's participants embraced the moment and gave it their all. Congratulations to our shootout participants on a fine showing!

With Gratitude

On behalf of the Tournament Committee, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to Tom, Ted, and Donna for all they do to make our club wonderful. The course was in fantastic shape and the greens rolled well. The support we get from the owners, as well as the encouragement to be creative and try new things, helps us put together successful events like this one.

A special thank you Christel, Andy, and the amazing restaurant/kitchen staff for taking care of us and helping us meet our needs within a new event structure. The thoughtful planning and execution was truly appreciated. A big hand to Brian and JK for running the playoff event. Having that kind of expertise really helps free me up to prepare the end of the evening awards and I can't thank you enough. Also, a shout-out to Braden and Matt for sticking around later than usual to make sure we had carts available to watch the shootout. And finally, a tremendous thank you to Kristin for all of the behind-the-scenes work that makes our events go. She also turned the hour-long job of filling cash envelopes into a 20-minute task!

Again, thank you to the Tournament Committee and the entire team at Honeybrook for helping make this a memorable event.

Prizes and Awards

With thousands of dollars on the line, we had plenty of envelopes to deliver. I have attached the wager payout summary below. If you didn't yet receive your prize, it will be waiting for you at the club. As far as the Golf Shop Dollars awarded to our flight winners and flight runners-up, Kristin will add the winnings to members' green merch cards. She will also create a green merch card for guests. If guests would prefer to use our online shop, please reach out to Kristin directly and she will assist you with that.

As it was a long two days, many people understandably left right after the shootout. We didn't hold a presentation ceremony, so you if you were a flight winner and didn't receive your crystal rocks glass, I have it for you at the club.
