School Delays & Closings - FAQ's

As we approach the winter season, school may be delayed or closed due to weather conditions. Please review the Frequently Asked Questions below-

What time does school start if there is a one-hour delay? Students arrive at school between 9:40-10:00am.

What time does school start if there is a two-hour delay? Students arrive at school between 10:40-11:00am.

Is school breakfast offered when there is a delay? Yes, breakfast will be offered to students as they arrive to school.

Early Dismissal Time? If we have an early dismissal due to predicted weather, Vine Street students are dismissed at 12:00 pm.

If school is delayed or an early release, is that an excused absence? NO, it is not. If school is in session for part of the day, students are expected to be in school and if they do not come in, it will be an unexcused absence.

How will I be notified about school delays or snow days? The school department will send out a message through the school alert system. Local media stations will also post delays and cancellations. (Please do not rely on "googling" it. There has been descrepencies with dates of closures. Please check local media stations or listen for the school department messaging alerts via text, voice call, email, or on the Bangor App.)

December Attendance Initiative!! βœ…

Unfortunately, Vine's attendance took a dive this week. 😭We had MANY students who did not come to school on Tuesday. Please remember that even if we have a half-day of school there is A LOT of learning happening in that half-day. It is very important that your child attends, even on half-days of school! Thank you so much for your help with this!

ALSO....starting next week, every day your child comes to school their name will be put into a drawing for some special prizes and experiences given out on December 23rd (our last day before winter break). Every day your child attends they learn more and they have a greater chance for some fun prizes!

Attendance βœ… Attendance βœ…

Unfortunately our attendance took a downward spiral this week. There has been some sickness going around, but we also had many students not come on the early release day.

Please help us CONTINUE to help us reach our 95% attendance goal by making daily attendance a priority. Whether it’s an exciting lesson, a hands-on project, or time spent with friends, every day of learning matters!

Weekly Attendance

PreK - 87.78% (week before break 91.11%)

Kindergarten - 90.27% (week before break 96.67%)

First Grade - 88.44% (week before break 99.55%)

Second Grade - 90.26% (week before break 96.22%)

Third Grade - 91.18% (week before break 96.60%)

School Wide - 89.82% (week before break 96.70%)

Unfortunately, we did not have any grade level that exceeding our 95% Attendance Goal. Let's work hard next week to have all students at school everyday as we begin our December Attendance Initiative!!
