A Message from the Principal
Hello ECLC Families,
Can you believe it? We are officially in the month school begins! We know that transitioning from sunny routines to school-day rhythms can bring a mix of excitement and big emotions for both children and parents alike.
Please know that our team is here to support your family every step of the way to make this transition as smooth, joyful, and stress-free as possible. Keep reading these updates and join us for Popsicles with the Principal and the Schoolwide Meet and Greet. We can't wait to welcome our students back very soon!
Respectfully,
Laura
Registration and Teacher Letters
NEW STUDENTS: Your registration should be complete. Letters from the teachers will be mailed August 14th. If you don’t receive one, please call Ms. Tracey in the office. We only mail these to families that have registration 100% complete.
RETURNING STUDENTS: You received an email asking you to update your students registration. This is a chance to update any changes you may have. You will need to also update your child's medical information as there are some immunization requirements for Kindergarten students that are not required for preschool students. New health reports can be emailed to Nurse Cunningham at kacunningham@sau74.org.
Free and Reduced Meals
Free and Reduced Price School Meals: Children need healthy meals to learn. Barrington School District offers healthy meals every school day. Your children may qualify for free meals or reduced price meals.

End 68 Hours of Hunger Barrington: A not for profit effort to confront the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the lunch at school Friday afternoon and breakfast on Monday morning.
Code of Conduct
The Barrington School District is committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where every child can learn and grow. To help achieve this, we follow a districtwide Code of Conduct that sets clear expectations for behavior and outlines how we support students in meeting those expectations.
Our approach emphasizes positive discipline, meaning rules are taught, modeled, and practiced. When challenges arise, staff respond calmly with logical, respectful, and consistent consequences. We also use a range of supports and interventions, from proactive classroom strategies and relationship building to more targeted or intensive supports when needed.
This framework ensures that all students know what is expected, feel supported, and have opportunities to learn from mistakes. Together, we are building a school climate where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
How Parents Can Help at Home
Talk with your child about the importance of respect, kindness, and responsibility.
Review the school’s rules and expectations together.
Model positive problem-solving and calm conflict resolution.
Praise your child for their efforts and progress, not just outcomes.
Keep open communication with your child’s teacher or school staff.
Encourage good routines (sleep, homework, organization) to set your child up for success.
Meet and Greet
Mark your calendars! On Thursday, August 27, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM, we are opening our classrooms for our schoolwide Meet and Greet. Students are invited to come explore their new classrooms, meet their wonderful teachers, find their very own cubby, and say a quick hello to some new friends.
For families, this is also a great opportunity to take care of a few important details before school starts. Feel free to drop off any outstanding paperwork at the main office, hand over any medications directly to the school nurse, or bring in classroom donations your teacher may have requested. Most importantly, we'll be here to answer any questions you may have. We can’t wait to welcome you all!
