3. When the Student Sign-In page appears, enter the student’s first name and TSDS ID exactly as they appear on the student test ticket.
4. Enter the session ID.
5. Click the Sign In button. After signing in to the Student Interface, students must verify their personal information on the page.
6. Students can select their tests from the Your Tests page that appears after students verify their personal information. The Your Tests page displays all the tests that a student is eligible to take. Students can only select tests that are included in the session and still need to be completed.
7. Depending on the test content and the specified test settings, students may need to verify that their testing device is functioning properly from the Audio/Video Checks page. If a test does not require functionality checks, this page is skipped.
8. The Instructions and Help page is the last step of the sign-in process. Students may review this page to understand how to navigate the test and use test tools as well as review their test settings. TELPAS Transition-Year Assessments (2026–2027 and 2027–2028)
ELPAS Transition-Year Assessments (2026–2027 and 2027–2028)
In the Fall of 2024, the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) adopted new English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS). These new standards will become effective in classrooms in the 2026–2027 school year. As a result of the changes to the ELPS, the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) will transition to a new assessment.
Before the new assessment is implemented, transition-year assessments will be used during the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 school years to measure the English language proficiency of emergent bilingual (EB) students.
During the transition period, the current proficiency level descriptors (PLDs) will continue to be used for the purpose of assessment. In addition, TELPAS will follow the assessment blueprints currently in place. The transition-year assessments will only include questions aligned to standards where there is an overlap between the current and the new ELPS.
The draft assessed curriculum for the transition-year assessments is linked below.
- Grades 2–3 Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (Updated 11/14/2025)
- Grades 4–12 Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (Updated 11/14/2025)
