Note from Dr. Newton -Rams Finish Strong!
Dear Ram Families,
It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of another school year. This season always brings a mix of reflection and anticipation, and I want to take a moment to thank you for being such an important part of our Ram community.
Throughout the year, we’ve seen incredible growth in our students—not just academically, but in their confidence, character, and connections with one another. From early learning milestones to senior celebrations, each step forward is a reminder of what we can accomplish together. Our classrooms, stages, fields, and community spaces have been filled with energy, perseverance, and pride.
As we head into these final weeks, our focus remains on finishing strong. Daily attendance continues to matter—even on half days—and every moment of learning counts. Let’s continue to support one another, stay engaged, and take pride in all that we’ve achieved together.
I would also like to extend a special congratulations to our graduating seniors. You have made a lasting impact on our schools, and we are excited to see where your path leads next. As you graduation from this RAMventure to the next adventure!
To our staff, thank you for the dedication, care, and professionalism you bring each day. You make a difference in ways that go far beyond the classroom. As Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week approaches (May 4–8), we invite our families to join us in celebrating the people who give so much to our students.
And to our families, thank you for your continued partnership and trust. Your support strengthens our schools and helps create the positive, connected environment we value so deeply.
Let’s make these last weeks meaningful, memorable, and full of Ram pride.
My Best,
Dr. Lindsey Newton

Transportation Announcements
Improving our Transportation Department
We want to share an important update regarding student transportation services.
At G-A, we deeply value our transportation drivers and the relationships they have built with our students and families. We know how much our community appreciates our drivers—their care, consistency, and daily commitment do not go unnoticed.
As a district, we are guided by our core values of transparency, communication, consistency, respect, and integrity. Since November, Dr. Newton has been working closely with our business office and external partners to evaluate how we can best uphold these values while ensuring reliable and sustainable transportation services.
While we explored the possibility of bringing drivers in-house, we must also make fiscally responsible decisions that support the long-term health of the district. After careful consideration, we have decided to partner with Midwest Educational Transportation Services (METS) to provide transportation services for our students and families starting the 2026-2027 school year.
We understand that change can bring questions, and we are committed to keeping you informed throughout this transition. Our priority remains providing safe, dependable transportation while supporting the people who make that possible.
Thank you for your PATIENCE, continued trust and support.
Action needed for Transportation for 26-27

Just a heads up for the beginning of the school year, if addresses aren't added by Aug 8th transportation will not be availabe for the first week of school. It's important to get your information updated this Spring so we can be proactive and ahead of all conflicts.

First Grade Pirate Day!
Arrrrrr! The first grade classes celebrated Pirate Day On Wednesday, March 25 as a fun, educational way to practice the “ar” sound!
Many children dressed in costumes, hats, bandanas, eye-patches, mustaches, and hook hands. Students practiced reading and writing “ar” words during a classroom treasure hunt, ate some “Pirate’s Booty” for a snack, listened to wonderful pirate stories, and much more!

Also in Physical Education: An old game from the 1920’s/30’s before electronics, tv and families did not have lots of money. This activity is called paddle-wheel game.
Returning to school after Spring Break means it’s softball and baseball season. Students focused on striking skills and hand-eye coordination.

Growing Together from Mr. Ball and Mrs. Walker
Walker’s Window into Counseling
Screen Time
As a parent, it can be hard to tell how much technology is too much for your children. Screens can be a great tool, but balance matters. Too much recreational screen time can have some harmful effects on our student’s brains. Screen time has been proven to disrupt sleep, make it harder to focus and learn, increase irritability, and reduce time for physical activity among other things. It is recommended that there is no technology usage 1 hour prior to bedtime to help the child’s brain slow down and turn off. Of course, technology can be used for good things as well. It is important to keep some balance in mind. Encourage your child to find alternatives to using screens and that will help build their imagination.
Ball’s Expectations
Coming off of a break/vacation often means an adjustment to RAMS expectations once beach in the classroom. Even a week off of school is a big change, as the schedule, supervision, and environment are drastically different. After every break we revisit our RAMS expectations to encourage students to demonstrate positive behaviors and be leaders for their peers. This is especially important as the Summer itch is already creeping in. Reminding students at home to be active listeners and to be safe with their words and actions is a great way to support and model the RAMS expectations we teach here at school. Reinforcing expectations at home with appropriate and fair consequences also helps with routine, structure, and boundaries.
Grounds Beautification Day at Galesburg‑Augusta Primary School 🌱
On Thursday, April 23, Pfizer colleagues came together to support a Grounds Beautification event at Galesburg‑Augusta Primary School, helping refresh and prepare the school’s courtyard for spring.
Volunteers worked side‑by‑side on light grounds maintenance, including:
Weeding flower beds and landscaped areas
Spreading mulch around trees, walkways, and planting beds
General outdoor cleanup to enhance the overall appearance of the courtyard
These efforts helped ensure the outdoor space is welcoming, polished, and ready for students, families, and staff to enjoy during upcoming spring activities. Similar projects in past years have made a noticeable difference, and this year’s work was once again greatly appreciated by the school community.
The impact of the day included:
Improving the appearance of the Primary campus ahead of spring events
Providing meaningful, hands‑on support to school maintenance staff
Strengthening Pfizer’s connection with the local community through visible service
A huge thank‑you to our Pfizer colleagues who volunteered their time:
Jacob Hill
David Aartila
Tracie McGuire
Savon Brown‑Ray
Lisa Sanderson
Jessica E. Eberstein
Jacob Osterling
Heather Byrd
To top off a productive and rewarding day, the school treated volunteers to an amazing lunch, making everyone feel truly welcomed and appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success and for continuing Pfizer’s tradition of giving back to our local communities.
