BeeArtful
April 2025
A letter from our leader Janice
The above photo was taken at the Guild's February meeting. The speaker, Anne Miro enjoyed using actual watch faces as the centerpieces for her bird houses. Very creative. She froze time.I would like to freeze time. Make it stand still.
I think making art gives us an opportunity to immerse ourselves in a time process. Whether we are sewing something to hang on a wall, or hug a baby, a friend, a fond relative, we are using our time. Is it play time or work time? What about when it is finished and tucked away or gifted? What remains of our time spent? Is it memories, newly developed skills, or a springboard to a new adventure? Is it something that gives us good feelings? It could be all those things or something entirely different. But it does make sense that when, after several months or years we see the art piece again, we can probably recite the who, what, when, where and why that goes with that piece. Now if that isn't playing with the concept of time, I don't know what is. I encourage you to make some time memories.
...until then keep pedaling.
Janice

Critique Documents for reference
https://www.janedunnewold.com/resources/critiques
One is a checklist that can be used as a guideline when looking at a quilt - this is published on her website as part of her creative strength training class.
The second is a detailed essay she wrote concerning the process.
I hope that these documents will help the Bee Artful group conduct critique sessions that are productive.
Letter from the editor
These spring days have truly been spectacular. I have linked the retreat handout so that as changes are made, you can see those changes by clicking on the link again to see if there are any updates. Our retreat in Lakemont will be smaller this time but the fun and community will still be BIG!! I am looking forward to checking some things off of my list.
I am happy to convey all of these wonderful "goings on" via this newsletter. Try to get things to me in advance of the end of the month via email (mandmoliver@gmail.com) or text. If you put the word "newsletter" somewhere in the message line I will be able to find it easier (if using email). See you soon.
