A Note from the Principal
Dear Jefferson Families,
As Superintendent Giguere shared today, we want to express our heartache for those who have been impacted by the recent attacks in Israel. As a school, district, and community, we stand together in condemning all acts of terrorism.
We also understand the level of concern that these events likely raise among families and students. Please know that our safety protocols at Jefferson are firmly in place. We value a strong partnership with our School Resource Officer and have access to direct lines of communication with the Franklin Police at all times.
We believe in fostering open communication while also ensuring the emotional well-being of our students is protected. We strive always to promote a safe and inclusive environment where students can learn about the world around them in respectful, age-appropriate ways.
We encourage families to have open discussions at home, helping children to understand different perspectives and complex events in ways that feel safe and aligned with family values. We also recommend leaning on age-appropriate resources and materials to facilitate discussions about diversity, conflict resolution, and world events. We have included some resources below:
Educational Websites:
American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP): Response to the Recent Attacks and Acts of Terror in Israel
Common Sense Media: Offers age-appropriate articles and videos that can help explain difficult topics to children.
Anti-Defamation League (ADL): Offers resources and guides for discussing anti-Semitism and other challenging topics with children. They have a range of resources for various age groups.
- Psychologist on how to talk to children about the Israel-Hamas war - Dr. Jamie Howard, a clinical psychologist at the Child Mind Institute, joins "CBS Mornings" with advice on how parents can talk with their children about the ongoing violence in Israel and Gaza.
- How to talk to children about the violence in Israel and Gaza
- How to Talk With Your Child About the Israel-Gaza War
As always, but especially in times of uncertainty and unrest, we remain committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. Our school counselors are available to any students who need additional support as well any families seeking guidance in addressing these sensitive topics with children.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership on behalf of our Jefferson Labs.
Best Regards,
Stefani Wasik, Principal

A Note from Mrs. Hover - Occupational Therapist
“After school restraint collapse” is an emotional and physical release some children experience upon arriving home. After spending the day using their mental and physical energy to follow school routines, they may be low on capacity. Please see the link below for strategies to help students “reboot” and “recharge” their bodies to help them cope with this release and decrease meltdowns.

Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention month! Bullying is different than social conflict in that it is targeted, repeated, intentional, and involves an imbalance of power. Please check out our counselors' information sheet below for more information! Also, Unity Day is Wednesday, October 18. Wear and share ORANGE to send a visible message that no one should ever experience bullying!
Nurses' Notes

This is done through fundraisers, events, and activities. The PCC fully funds field trips for every student at Jefferson, holds Book Fairs, hosts Cultural Enrichment Assemblies for the children, and sponsors the Artist in Residence Program each year.
