Functional Highlight - Housekeeping Functional Highlight - Housekeeping

As we begin the new year, our participants are focusing on strengthening essential functional daily living skills through housekeeping and cleaning activities. January is a great time to build routines, set expectations, and take pride in maintaining shared spaces. Through structured cleaning tasks and organization projects, individuals are learning to plan, follow steps, and work independently or as part of a team. These experiences support responsibility, confidence, and work-readiness skills that carry over into everyday life and future goals.

Our participants are looking forward to an exciting Community-Based Instruction experience at I’m Possible Café. I’m Possible Café is a community-driven coffee shop that provides a welcoming environment for individuals to build work-readiness skills through hands-on experience. During this hands-on experience, they will practice independent skills by ordering and paying for meals, as well as engaging in meaningful social interactions with staff and peers. These activities help build confidence, independence, and practical life skills, while providing a real-world setting to strengthen work-readiness and community participation. We’re excited to see our participants grow, learn, and enjoy this enriching experience!

During the outing, they strengthened essential independent living skills, including making a shopping list, budgeting, selecting items, and completing transactions.
