Fisher Family Update
May 23, 2025

Dear families,
In just the past few days, we have seen the beginning and the culmination of the Walpole Public School experience. At Kindergarten screening this week, we met families walking through the doors of Fisher School for the first time. Their children will soon take a tour of their new school, guided by our current 5th graders. Earlier this week, former Fisher students graduating from Walpole High School returned to be celebrated by our students, teachers and staff. The seniors were applauded as they walked around the outside of the school and had an opportunity to reunite with former teachers. It was a great event and we congratulate all the graduates and wish them all the best in their future!
We all hope you enjoy the Memorial Day weekend with family and friends and find a moment to honor and remember all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
Have a great long weekend,

Family Survey
You should have received—or will soon receive—an email invitation to participate in the Walpole Public Schools district-wide Family School Climate Survey. The purpose of the survey is to learn more about you and your child’s experiences in our schools. We have partnered with K12 Insight to administer the survey, gather responses, and analyze the feedback. The insights we collect will play a key role in guiding our School Councils as they develop School Improvement Plans for the upcoming year. We sincerely appreciate your input. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us create the best possible learning environment for all students.
May Math Update
As we reflect on another great year of learning in our elementary math classrooms, it is always amazing to see the growth in our students. This year we have had more students than ever reach the 80% and 100% goals in ST Math. Every school has once again, hit over 100% puzzle progress as a school and we still have a few weeks to go! The implementation of Math Fact Lab has been a great success as all students have improved their fact fluency while they strived to reach their grade level goals. In this third year of the implementation of Bridges, classrooms have solidified their routines around Number Corner, Work Places, and lesson investigations and our students have risen to the challenge of this rigorous curriculum. It has been wonderful to hear and see the pride in our students as their math disposition grows increasingly more positive each year.
With only 3 weeks left in the school year, it is important to set goals and a plan for how to avoid summer slide after all the wonderful progress students have made throughout the year. Research has shown that students can lose up to 2 months of reading skills and 2 ½ months of math skills over one summer depending on their grade level. The good news is that there are easy and fun ways to prevent this loss of learning and maintain or even make gains over the summer.
The most important thing to do is keep your children active and thinking over the summer. Preventing summer slide does not equate with giving your children worksheets to do each week. Instead, encourage them to play outside, play board games, participate in imaginative play, and read for pleasure!
In order to keep those young mathematicians’ brains active, we have a whole section of our Family Math Site dedicated to activities and games your students can access to keep their minds engaged and math skills sharp. While we do not require students to complete any specific task, we do encourage them to engage their mathematical brain for 60-90 minutes a week on activities of their choice. If you scroll to the bottom of the web page, there are also printable packets for each grade level if that is what your child enjoys.
We want our Walpole students to have a wonderful summer, but we don’t want them to lose all the hard work they put in during the school year! We hope you all find time to relax and recharge over the summer while staying active and engaged in your choice of fun learning activities.
