November 2026

Principal's Message
Dear Rancho Families,
As we head into November, there are SO many reasons to be thankful at Rancho! I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a wonderful school community, and I am grateful for the students, staff, and families who make Rancho such a special place.
A huge thank-you to our amazing teachers and staff for their hard work and dedication, to our students for continuing to work hard and grow each day, and to our families for your ongoing partnership and support. We especially appreciate everyone who took the time to connect with teachers during Parent/Teacher Conferences last month. These partnerships make such a difference!
Thank you also to all of the families who participated in Walk and Roll to School Day, Red Ribbon Week, and Trunk or Treat! A special shout-out to everyone who donated candy and hosted the AMAZING trunks. We are so grateful for your generosity and enthusiasm in making these events so much fun for our students!
We also appreciate everyone who supported our APEX fundraiser! While we didn't quite reach our fundraising goal, we raised enough to fund our planned grade-level field trips, support many of our family nights, and purchase playground equipment and school supplies. That is something to celebrate!
November is already off to a great start with our Book Fair this week and STEAM Night coming up! We are also incredibly proud to share that Rancho has been named a California Honor Roll School for making a difference in student achievement, particularly in reading, writing, and math. This recognition is a wonderful reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and entire school community!
As we enter this season of gratitude, please know how thankful we are for each of you. Rancho truly is a special place, and it is because of the amazing people who make up our community. Wishing all of our Rancho families a wonderful November!
With gratitude,
Lani Russi
Principal
📖 Short-Term Independent Study Available 📖
Did you know you can request an Independent Study?
If your student is ill or going on extended leave, you can request a Short Term Independent Study Contract (STIS). The contract can be from 1 to 15 days. This allows your student to keep up with missed school work and recoup attendance credit.
How do you request a contract?
Inform your teacher when you will be leaving. Please allow 5 or more days for the teacher to plan work for your student. If your student is ill, the contract can be backdated to allow for time missed. Just inform your teacher you would like to receive homework for the time your student was ill.
When you return from illness or your trip, the homework will be due upon return to school. Credit will be given for work and attendance once the work is turned in and graded.
Have questions? Please reach out to Mrs. Elva in the front office.

Math Curriculum Pilot
We are excited to share that the Temecula Valley Unified School District is launching a mathematics curriculum pilot at our elementary schools. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to strengthening math instruction in alignment with the updated California Mathematics Framework.
General and special education teachers representing all grade levels and sites will be participating in this pilot. Elementary school classrooms will explore two programs: Classroom Mathematics California and Bridges 3rd Edition.
The pilot timeline is as follows:
8/17/26 - 10/21/26: Classroom Mathematics California (CMC), Curriculum Associates
10/22/26 - 12/18/26: Bridges 3rd Edition, Math Learning Center
While not all students and teachers will take part in the pilot, sample textbooks and instructional materials will be available for review at each of our elementary schools, as well as at the District Office. You will have an opportunity to leave your feedback through a QR code at each of the locations. If you view the materials online, here is the link to provide feedback. Since we are engaged in math pilot #1, you can only leave feedback for Classroom Mathematics at this time. You will be able to leave feedback for Bridges 3rd Edition after October 22nd.
We value your partnership and appreciate your continued support of TVUSD’s efforts to provide high-quality educational experiences for all students.
Kinder Dual Language Immersion (DLI)
TVUSD is excited to continue offering a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program at Temecula Elementary School! DLI is a unique educational model where students learn to speak, read, and write in two languages while meeting the same high academic standards as all other students. Families interested in transferring their child to the DLI program can submit an Open Enrollment request October 15, 2026 - January 31, 2027. *Transportation will not be provided for students in the DLI program.*
