Reminder: New Device Policy for Students
Beginning Monday, September 21st, Technology Services will be implementing a change to wireless network access, which will block student accounts from being able to connect to the CVUSD BYOD wireless network.
This change is being made to ensure that students are utilizing District-issued devices while connected to the CVUSD network and to support the District’s device management, security, and instructional technology standards. This Administrative Regulation update was approved by the Board of Education at its May 20, 2026 Meeting - Agenda Item 3 B.
As previously communicated (in an article published on the District website News section on July 15th and in the August 17th Communication Snapshot newsletter), beginning this school year, students will no longer be permitted to use personal devices, such as student-owned laptops and ipads, on campus. All students will continue to have access to district-issued chromebooks and classroom-based devices to support learning both at school and at home. This update is intended to create a more safeguarded and consistent learning environment for all students.
Moving away from student "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) for school instruction will help us:
- Improve online safety and strengthen cybersecurity protections for student accounts and data.
- Provide a more consistent classroom experience and reduce time spent troubleshooting different personal devices.
- Support classroom focus by reducing distractions from personal apps, games, and notifications.
- Improve network reliability and performance across school campuses.
- Allow teachers and schools to better support students using district-managed tools and systems.
We appreciate your partnership and support as we implement this transition.

NPHS & Los Robles Team Up to Teach Students Life-Saving Skills & Information
This September, ninth-grade students enrolled in Health Class at Newbury Park High School had the opportunity to participate in an engaging, hands-on presentation led by nurses from Los Robles Regional Medical Center. Students learned essential skills and safety information through three important topics: CPR, Stop the Bleed, and E-Bike Safety.
The presentation provided students with practical knowledge on how to respond during a medical emergency, perform CPR, provide aid to someone experiencing significant bleeding, and stay safe while riding e-bikes.
We are grateful to community partner, Los Robles Regional Medical Center, for sharing their expertise and helping our students build knowledge and gain confidence for responding in an emergency.
Colina Showcases Kindness with New School Mural
"Dude, Be Nice!" is not just a saying at Colina Middle School, it's a schoolwide mantra that students and staff alike strive to follow as part of their campus's kindness culture. Eighth grade student Jaya incorporated this message into a mural design, which was selected as the winner in a schoolwide mural design competition last spring. The finishing touches were painted last week, and this now complete mural serves as a visual reminder that being caring and kind is key at Colina! Check out the video below to learn more.
