Hosanna Youth Updates

Feeding our hungry Youth!
Eating supper together is great fellowship, and also solves a practical problem for many of our busy kids. If you are able to help support feeding our youth group, we would appreciate it! Here's how you can help:
- Financial Donations directed to Youth Group
- We purchase a lot of our suppers from Hot Mama Mack's, so gift certificates are also helpful.
- Drop off snacks - individually wrapped items are easy for us to store and pull out each week!
- Bring cookies or bars. We can always freeze the leftovers.
- Donate pop, gatorade, Bubler's, etc - we go through a LOT!
If you would like to help by preparing something like a casserole, soup, side dish, salad, or something else you think the kids would enjoy, just let me know!

Let's go to Quake!
Quake is an awesome weekend retreat for youth in middle and high school. Think of it like summer Bible camp crammed into one weekend - music, worship, Bible studies, service projects, group activities, games and fun! And because it's in Wisconsin Dells, there are multiple water parks and indoor entertainment centers right inside our hotel!
Wisconsin Dells Quake is HUGE and fills up fast. If you'd like to go (and you should go!), you need to sign up with Jenn by Sunday, November 8 and pay a $50 deposit. Youth group will cover all other costs including registration, hotel, transportation, and meals. Friends are welcome to join us - they must also sign up and pay the deposit by November 8.
Quake is open to kids in 5th grade through high school. Traveling without your parents can be a little scary if you haven't done it. Sign up with a friend and you will have too much fun to miss your parents!
Questions? Please reach out to Jenn!
Why should you come to youth group?
Hosanna Youth, I get it - you are BUSY! And you are TIRED. And you might even have homework. Or practice. Or a social life. Your friends don't even go to youth group, so why not just skip it?
Youth group is not just one more thing - it is a really important part of your faith journey. There are a lot of different perspectives on Christianity out there. Spending time with your Hosanna family is a way to ground yourself in what you are willing to believe and why you feel that way. Following Jesus is more than wanting everyone to be happy or following your feelings. It's not a public show, or a chance to prove how good of a Christian you can be in front of others. Being a Christian is hard work. It means sinning, asking for forgiveness, and trying again. It requires time to study, to ask questions, to wonder why. It requires leaders with experience, who are farther along on their faith journey and can provide solid guidance to you.
Non-denominational youth events are a great opportunity to join in worship with other Christians. We encourage you to join FCA and Collision. We want you to go have fun when your friends invite you to their youth group activities. But we also want to you to understand what it means to be a Lutheran, especially a LCMC Lutheran. We want to you to build relationships with adults who can be steady mentors for you. We want to support each other as part of the Hosanna faith community. Oh, and we want you to invite your friends to Hosanna, too! Friends are always welcome, whether we are having a fun event, a service project, or a Bible study.
We meet every Wednesday. Grades 6-12 are invited to join us. We will eat at 6:45 (after Confirmation), have a little fun, and then break into small groups. Think about what you might like to learn about this year because we will be planning our Bible studies!
Youth group isn't perfect, because we are all just imperfect people.
But it's better when YOU are there!
See you Wednesday!
