Hello Miller Families!

Our final days are upon us and it's hard to believe we have 7 days of preschool and 8 days of kindergarten remaining. I feel like we started the year just yesterday and we hit fast forward to May! Throughout this year, our staff has been guided by a book we read by Scott Stuart, Heart Takes the Lead; Maybe Brain is Not Always Right. The message celebrates the power of leading with our hearts and minds as a partnership where the heart senses intuition and establishes emotional balance, allowing the brain to think clearly and execute decisions with wisdom. If you walk through the halls of Miller Elementary, I know you would feel this sense of heart, love and devotion to your amazing children and we feel honored to help them grow and thrive each day!

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful children with us each day throughout the 2025-2026 school year! They have given us so much joy, love, and warmth and you should be so proud of their growth and accomplishments throughout this school year. They each have grown socially, emotionally, and academically in so many ways, hit important developmental milestones, built strong friendships, fostered a love of reading, developed their mathematical thinking skills and started their journey as an Aurora Greenmen!

We will enjoy our last full week preparing to close up for the summer. Please make sure you empty out your child's backpack each day as we start to send home projects, supplies and personal items.

Our school will also celebrate our last PBIS School Wide Celebration with a special day called THE BEST DAY EVER on Wednesday, May 20th! We have so many fun things planned and it does include special treats. I have included all important allergen information on this newsletter. Nurse Jackie will also reach out to families to see if an alternative option is best.

The Buddy Bench Comes to Miller The Buddy Bench Comes to Miller

One of our local Girl Scout Troops participated in their Bronze Award Project that impacted Miller Elementary! The bronze award is a community service project that makes a lasting impact on our community and school. The group of girls raised funds to purchase and build a Buddy Bench that has been placed here at Miller Elementary for all to enjoy. The girls came to our school this week to read The Buddy Bench books which teaches children the importance of including others and helping others feel included when they need a Buddy. Thank you to Troop 91282 for thinking of our school community and enhancing our playground!

Planned Absences & Attendance Notification Letters Planned Absences & Attendance Notification Letters

It's that time of year when we begin to have students who meet the benchmarks of notifying families about excessive absences. If your child meets the threshold of missed hours, a letter must be sent from the school alerting you. Please also be reminded that it doesn't matter whether the absences are excused or unexcused. We have to track the hours missed regardless of the reason and communicate to you when benchmarks have been met.

This is also the time of year that planned absences often get scheduled. We have attached our planned absence form and policy. Please make sure you read through this important message and understand that planned absences and absences due to illness all count for missed hours. If you have any further questions, please let me know!

In all our Elementary Buildings, we utilize a Google Form to report attendance, late arrival, early dismissal, and change of transportation such as switching from a bus rider to office pick-up!

To report an absence or change your child to a car rider or bus rider, please click the button below or scan the QR code magnet that we will pass out at Open House. This can be done from any device and your reply will be sent immediately to our secretary, Mrs. Toler.

If your child will be absent, you will use this form to report the absence along with the reason for the absence. We are working really hard to reduce the amount of phone calls, emails, or notes that we receive. We ask that you reserve those modes of communication for emergencies only. Thank you in advance for your help and let us know if you have any questions at all!
