Dear Patriot Families,

As we welcome November, I find myself reflecting on how fortunate I am to be part of the Patriot family. One of the greatest joys of being your principal is seeing the smiles on our students’ faces, watching them grow in confidence, and witnessing the incredible dedication our teachers show each and every day. These moments remind me that a school is so much more than a place to learn; It is a community where relationships matter, kindness makes a difference, and every child deserves to feel valued and loved.

I am truly grateful for the trust you place in us and for the partnership we share in supporting your children. Thank you for being part of what makes Patriot Elementary such a special place. As we head into the Thanksgiving season, I hope your families find time to slow down, make meaningful memories, and celebrate the people and moments that matter most.

From my family to yours, I wish you a November filled with love, laughter, and gratitude. It is a privilege to lead this school, and I am thankful every day to serve as your principal!

Estimadas familias de Patriot,

Al darle la bienvenida al mes de noviembre, reflexiono sobre lo afortunado que me siento de formar parte de la familia Patriot. Una de las mayores alegrías de ser su director es ver las sonrisas en los rostros de nuestros estudiantes, observar cómo ganan confianza y ser testigo de la increíble dedicación que nuestros maestros demuestran día tras día. Estos momentos me recuerdan que una escuela es mucho más que un lugar para aprender; es una comunidad donde las relaciones son importantes, la amabilidad marca la diferencia y cada niño merece sentirse valorado y querido.

Estoy profundamente agradecido por la confianza que depositan en nosotros y por la colaboración que mantenemos para apoyar a sus hijos. Gracias por ser parte de lo que hace de Patriot Elementary un lugar tan especial. November is National Child Safety and Protection Month, a time to focus on preventing accidental injuries and hazards for children. For elementary students, this month highlights the importance of safety measures like wearing helmets when riding bikes, ensuring home safety through secured medications, and practicing internet safety. It's a nationwide effort to raise awareness among parents, teachers, and caregivers about protecting children from everyday dangers.

Home safety

· Keep walkways and stairs clear to prevent falls.

· Store cleaning supplies and medications in high, out-of-reach places, ideally in locked cabinets.

· Test smoke alarms regularly.

Outdoor safety

· Ensure children wear properly fitted helmets for activities like biking and skateboarding.

· Teach children about street safety, including crossing a road at a crosswalk and to follow traffic rules.

· Children wear life jackets when in and around boats.

· Make sure that children never swim alone and always have an adult supervising them.

Internet safety

· Set clear rules for internet and device use.

· Teach children never to give out personal information online.

· Instruct them not to post photos on public sites and to report inappropriate messages to a trusted adult.

General safety

· Be aware of choking hazards, such as hard foods, and supervise young children while they eat.

Noviembre es el Mes Nacional de la Seguridad y Protección Infantil, una época para centrarse en la prevención de lesiones accidentales y riesgos para los niños. Para los estudiantes de primaria, este mes destaca la importancia de medidas de seguridad tales como el uso de casco al andar en bicicleta, garantizar la seguridad en el hogar —manteniendo los medicamentos bien guardados— y fomentar la seguridad en internet. Se trata de un esfuerzo a nivel nacional para crear conciencia entre padres, maestros y cuidadores sobre la protección de los niños frente a los peligros cotidianos.

Seguridad en el hogar

· Mantenga los pasillos y las escaleras despejados para evitar caídas.

· Guarde los productos de limpieza y los medicamentos en lugares altos y fuera del alcance de los niños; lo ideal es mantenerlos en armarios con llave.

· Compruebe periódicamente el funcionamiento de los detectores de humo.

Seguridad en exteriores

· Asegúrese de que los niños utilicen cascos bien ajustados al realizar actividades como andar en bicicleta o usar patineta.

· Enseñe a los niños las normas de seguridad vial, como cruzar la calle por los pasos peatonales y respetar las señales de tráfico.

· Los niños deben usar chalecos salvavidas cuando estén dentro o cerca de embarcaciones.
