GT Newsletter January 2026

This Month in GT / Stretch:

3rd Grade: Third graders created one word resolutions as we headed into a new year. We learned about the science behind doodling and brain activity, as shown in studies where doodlers recalled 29% more information. We also used our sharp observation skills to decode a photograph before it was fully revealed.

4th Grade: Fourth graders researched the ghost ship The Mary Celeste, and debated theories about the fate of the crew. We also learned about the history of comic strips, creating one of our own. Soon we will be starting a simulation where students take sides durng the Revolutionary War.

5th Grade: Fifth graders looked to separate fact from fiction with historical myths. They also will decode ancient hieroglyphics and will be doing a deep dive into their PYP IB Exhibition projects.

đź’ˇ Parent Tip đź’ˇ

Impostor Syndrome

Highly-praised children can suffer from Impostor Syndrome, doubting that they’re as great as other people think. Children will sometimes feel like a fraud or feel like there is too much pressure to be perfect at something very quickly without having to work at it.

You can help by giving realistic feedback and letting your child know there is a name for this and what it means!

This video explains more!
