WELCOME BACK BULLDOGS!
Dear Emerson Families,
I hope this letter finds you well rested and relaxed after enjoying an amazing summer filled with family, friends and fun. On behalf of our entire staff I’d like to welcome our new and returning students to Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. Our staff has worked diligently over the summer to plan lessons, prepare classrooms, and ensure we are ready for the start of the new school year. We hope the information below may address any questions you may have at this time.
Staff has given careful consideration to each child’s placement for the 26-27 school year. By doing so we have created classrooms that are balanced both academically and socially to help ensure each child’s success. Student placement letters will be emailed to families the afternoon of Wednesday, August 26th. If you have changed your email address or moved over the summer, please contact our office ASAP so we can ensure we have the correct contact information on file.
The first day of school will be on Monday, August 31st. This day is a half day and we begin at 8:30. and dismiss at 12:30. We will not serve lunch or snacks on this day. All staff will be outside infront of the building and visible to direct students as necessary this week. YMCA School-Aged Child Care (SACC) WILL be available on this day.
To keep families abreast of Emerson happenings, The "BULLDOG BARK" will continue to be published weekly and emailed home. A list of important August/September/October dates may be found below in the meantime.
This will be my 16th year serving as your Principal, as always, the staff and I are excited for the new year and can't wait to see our returning students and meet all our new students. We look forward to partnering with you this year to ensure your Bulldog has a rewarding and successful year! Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at any time!
Sincerely,
Mr. Argiri

EMERSON PTO
New to Emerson or looking for a way to get more involved? We’d love to have you join us! Our Annual Walk-a-Thon, our biggest fundraiser of the year, is October 9th, and there are lots of ways for families to get involved. We will also be doing our Kindergarten signing at Meet the Teacher night and will have a booth set up there to connect with families and share more about PTO opportunities.
Be sure to join the EMERSON PTO Facebook group to stay up to date on events, volunteer opportunities, and important information. Our first PTO meeting of the school year is September 8th, 7:00PM in the Media Center and childcare will be provided, so there’s no need to worry about finding a sitter!
Come meet other Emerson families, learn more about what we do, and help make this a great year for our Bulldogs! 💙
Thanks,

FRASER WIRELESS COMMUNICATION POLICY
As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, we want to share the student cell phone and personal device expectations in Fraser Public Schools.
In accordance with state law and Fraser Public Schools policy, students may not use personal wireless communication devices during the school day while on school grounds. This is consistent with our past practices at the elementary buildings.
What does this mean for elementary students?
Students may bring a device to school, but it must remain turned off, stored away, and out of sight during the school day. This includes cell phones, smartwatches and smart glasses, earbuds and headphones, personal tablets and any device that can text, call, access the internet, take photos or videos, send email, or provide entertainment.
Are there exceptions?
Yes. Exceptions may be made for medically necessary devices, school-issued devices, approved instructional use and IEP or 504 accommodations.
What happens if a student has a device out?
If a student has a device out during instructional time, they will be asked to put it away. If needed, staff may secure the device in a designated, secure location until the end of the school day.
Discipline will not be issued simply because a student has a device out. Consequences may be assigned if a student refuses to follow the expectation or repeatedly fails to comply with the policy. Our goal is to respond in a safe, reasonable, and consistent manner while helping students develop responsible technology habits.
How can families help?
We ask for your partnership as we make this transition. Before the school year begins, please talk with your student about keeping personal devices put away during the school day and the importance of following staff directions.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to provide a focused, safe, and positive learning environment for every Fraser student.
DOES YOUR CHILD HAVE MEDICAL NEEDS?
If your child has specific medical needs, please reach out to the main office prior to the start of school. In order to administer medication, consent forms must be completed. Consent forms for prescription medications must include dosage and frequency information signed by a physician. Medication, including inhalers, must be stored in the main office and not in backpacks or pockets. In addition, if your child has a medical plan, it will need to be updated for the 26-27 school year.
FIND YOUR CHILD'S BUS STOP ONLINE
Bus stop information will be available online for the 2026–2027 school year starting August 24th. You can access your child’s bus stop information https://www.fraser.k12.mi.us/departments/transportation on the "Bus Stops" link and enter your address to retrieve your child’s bus stop information.
It is very important to check your child’s bus stop, as routes have been modified for the 2026–2027 school year.
Students will be assigned a route number in lieu of a bus number. The route number is located on the left side of the entry door. To ensure transportation, all students must be at their bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time.
Please review with your child the bus rules found on the Transportation Department’s website.
FOOD SERVICE
FREE AND REDUCED MEALS
Fraser Public Schools is excited to share that the State of Michigan has approved the continuation of Michigan School Meals and will be offering each student a free breakfast and free lunch on a daily basis! A required component of a complete breakfast and lunch is ½ cup of fruit or vegetable, which must be taken with the meal for it to be free of charge. We are also encouraging families to complete the Education Benefits Form located HERE. By doing so you help ensure the school receives additional funding.
Breakfast and Lunch Menus can be found HERE!
