What's new in Vocational Training?
SIMS Mannequins
On January 30, 2026, CDC Pont-Viau Vocational Training Centre proudly inaugurated its Health Care Simulation Lab with two new high fidelity mannequins. These advanced mannequins can simulate real patient care in a safe, supportive environment. Designed for learners in programs such as Licensed Practical Nurse and Personal Support Worker, these mannequins help build confidence, strengthen critical thinking, and prepare students for meaningful careers in health care. This $175,000 investment funds are from the Entente Canada Quebec and the Ministry of Education in Quebec which highlights our continued commitment to student success and high-quality, modern vocational training.
Collaboration in Action at CDC Pont-Viau
On Friday, April 24, guidance counsellors from SWLSB high schools took part in a collaborative presentation alongside teachers and professionals from CDC Pont-Viau. The session provided an opportunity to exchange ideas, explore the range of programs offered, and gain valuable insights into vocational training. We look forward to continuing and expanding these collaborative opportunities in the future. In particular we focused on STEPs: Student Transitions to Educational Pathways for Success.
Building Our Chill Zones, One Piece at a Time
CDC Pont-Viau is excited to share that we have begun receiving and assembling furniture for our new student “Chill Zones,” made possible through a $10,000 grant from the CISSS de Laval.
These welcoming spaces are starting to come to life, with comfortable seating, relaxation areas, and even a foosball table being set up for students to enjoy. Designed to support well-being, social connection, and downtime between classes, the Chill Zones will offer students a place to recharge in a limited-space environment with few nearby amenities.
Stay tuned as we continue to build and enhance these spaces for our students!
During School Perseverance Week, CDC Vimont had the pleasure of welcoming back three former students who shared their personal journeys with our current learners. Through stories of challenges, setbacks, hard work and success, Kerry, Trina & Jonathan reminded students that perseverance can open doors in unexpected ways. Their honesty, encouragement and willingness to give back created a powerful and inspiring moment for everyone in attendance. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to see that with determination, patience and support, their goals are within reach.
Big News: One Name, One Hub! 🌐
We’re excited to share that CDC Vimont and CDC Lachute now operate under a combined website name!
This update makes it easier than ever to find information, explore programs, and stay connected—all in one place.
Student-Led Initiatives
The CDC Vimont Student Committee has been hard at work this year bringing fun, creativity and school spirit to our community! From delicious bake sales to popcorn and movie fundraisers, there has been no shortage of exciting events for students to enjoy. The committee also helped spread kindness and smiles with special Valentine’s Day activities and recently hosted a grilled cheese sandwich sale that was a big hit. These initiatives not only bring students together, but also help create a welcoming sense of community and support future activities and events throughout the school year.
CDC Lachute Poets
Two CDC Lachute poets were selected to have their submissions published in a Canada-wide competition. The poems were selected from thousands of entries by high school students. The winning compositions will be published in an anthology entitled "The Shape of Words", and will be displayed in bookstores and libraries across the country. This contest, sponsored by Polar Expressions Publishing, fosters literacy and provides an outlet for our very talented and creative students. Congratulations to CDC Lachute students JD Levesque & Cassidy Wharr

Mobile Workshop – Choosing Clarity
In April, we hosted an in-person workshop for managers and leaders, giving them the opportunity to step back and take a strategic look at their team dynamics: better identify areas of ambiguity and recognize strengths to restore clarity in each person’s role. Clarity is essential to maintaining a cohesive and engaged team. Discover our mobile approach.
Strengthen Team CohesionNew Partnership
We are proud to announce the signing of a service agreement with the CNESST as a partner distributor of the mandatory training programs intended for Health and Safety Committees (HSC) and Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) in businesses across Quebec. This partnership represents a valuable opportunity to actively contribute to the creation of compliant, preventive, and safe workplaces throughout the province.
💡 Tip: Sharing candid, everyday moments helps families see how school culture and student support show up beyond the classroom.
