Weighted GPA System Change Approved Weighted GPA System Change Approved

CORRECTED INFORMATION
The Board of Education approved a shift in the GPA system away from the current scale that goes up to 6.0 for an A in some classes to a more traditional Weighted 4.0 Scale. High schools who use a weighted system, are typically on a system similar to the approved Weighted 4.0.

The new scale will be:

A

5.0 for Honors/AP/IB/Dual Credit

4.0 for other courses

B

4.0 for Honors/AP/IB/Dual Credit

3.0 for other courses

C

3.0 for Honors/AP/IB/Dual Credit

2.0 for other courses

D

2.0 for Honors/AP/IB/Dual Credit

1.0 for other courses

Colleges and Universities have assured HF that using the Weighted 4.0 Scale will not impact students' college admission process. The higher education institutions are most interested in with whether the applicant took the most rigorous coursework available and not the weighted GPA. Currently, school counselors must recalculate the 6.0 GPA system to a 4.0 system when submitting college applications because colleges and universities don't recognize the 6.0 scale.

English Curriculum English Curriculum

The Board of Education approved the recommended curriculum for English 1, English 2, English 3 and English 4, and the implementation of Earned Honors starting with English 4, beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.
