Carnegie Chronicle
April 2026
Note from the Director
Happy National Library Week! We're showing the film The Librarians this Friday at 6pm to celebrate, and we hope you'll join us.
You can see preservation in action on the main library building exterior, but don't let the scaffolding keep you away - WE ARE OPEN during repairs. It's not worrisome, we're just freshening up some peeling and rotten trim along the top. This project was made possible by a grant from the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program.
We are installing an auxiliary drop box and pick-up lockers at SunFest Market in Holiday Island! Community members asked for this years ago, and we can finally make it happen, thanks to a gift from the Carnegie Corporation of New York to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary. We'll share information on the progress and procedures for this new addition soon.
With much gratitude,
Christina Danos

Planning a home garden?
Stop by and get yours soon!
Or Adopt-a-Bed in our garden!
We’ve added six new raised beds to the Carnegie Library Community Garden! While we’ve reserved some of the growing space for our teens and children to experience getting their hands in the soil, we still have open garden bed space that could be yours to cultivate through the rest of the year! Each of the beds comes with an (optional) cover to protect it from the neighborhood deer, access to the hose connected to our water collection tank for irrigation, and we even have you covered with brand new gardening hand tools to check out from our Library of Things! Adopting a garden bed space means you reap what you sow – any of the plants/flowers/food you grow are yours to harvest and keep or share as you wish.
If you are interested, please fill out the online application form HERE, or come by the library to pick up a print application, from now until May 8th. Questions? Email our Library Garden Plot Coordinator: agriffith@eurekalibrary.org
Just So Ozarks, in conjunction with the Eureka Springs Carnegie Public Library and the Arts Council, is again hosting a Free Family Arts Walk from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Join us for magical family memories in the heart of Eureka Springs!
The walk is shorter this year, based on feedback, looping from the library garden up the Crescent Trail, past St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, and down the Magnolia Trail back to the library garden. We have kept most of the scheduled art activities (plus face painting and story time) at the library garden and most of the interactive self-guided art activities along the trail.
Musicians will be at the library garden from 10 am to 12 pm, St. Elizabeth's church from 12 pm to 2 pm, and then again at the library garden from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Volunteers needed for both set up and take down on Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. Also, please join us for a fairy house makers event (adults only) on May 16 from 12 pm to 2 pm.
