Principal's Hello
Dear Golden Eagle Families,
Our first full week was awesome! We issued iPads and PE shirts to all students. Football players had their district jamboree. And volleyballers had their second game, against Sky View.
Next week we have a special bell schedule on Tuesday and Thursday. (Don't worry--school starts and ends at the same time.) We do the first of three interim assessments, a new state guideline that helps teachers assess student skills. The tests don't go in the gradebook. They simply measure the skill level of each student to help teachers plan their next instructional steps.
Hope to see you Thursday at Back to School Night!
Sean
Coming Up: MAP Testing
MAP helps us understand student progress in reading and mathematics and identify areas for continued growth.
Students will still attend all of their regular classes, though class times may be adjusted slightly to accommodate testing.
We appreciate your support as we complete these important district assessments.
Join Us for PCMS Back to School Night!
Please make sure you have access to ParentVUE so you can easily reference your student’s schedule throughout the evening.
Say Cheese! Picture Day Is Coming Soon
We can’t wait to see your children’s beautiful smiles on Picture Day! Please follow the directions in the image above to order your student’s pictures.
We ask that you notify your students that hats and hoods must be off for their photos.
A quick reminder about Retake Day: Retake Day is only for students who were absent on Picture Day. Please help us make sure your student is ready to have their picture taken on the scheduled Picture Day, as retakes will not be available for students who simply do not like their photo.
Thank you for helping us make Picture Day run smoothly!
Upcoming Volunteer Opportunity
We are looking for parent volunteers to help during Picture Day on Thursday, October 1st.
We have two 4 hour shifts available, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Before signing up, please check to make sure you are cleared through BLS to volunteer at Pacific Crest Middle School. Please note that due to a high volume of applications, the approval process is taking a little longer than usual.
Thank you for helping make Picture Day a success!
At Pacific Crest, we love seeing our students get involved in clubs!
Student Clubs are a great way for students to express their creativity, explore their interests, try something new, and make connections with other students who share their passions.
Please encourage your student to stop by the main office to pick up a club application form if they are interested in starting or joining a club.
Need a Little Extra Help With Math?
A New Sport at PCMS!
Girls’ wrestling is here! Now an OSAA-sanctioned sport, we will be splitting boys’ and girls’ wrestling into two distinct seasons. Girls’ wrestling will take place during November and December and we will be opening registration from September 14-30. In order to have our own Pacific Crest team, we will need 10 or more registrations, so consider signing up as soon as Monday! Questions? Feel free to reach out to our Athletic Director, Jason Deaner, for more information.
