Congratulations to all of our students who took part in the 2025 Farm Show. BHS had a large display of greatness over the week long event. Our high school select chorus was selected to sing the National Anthem to open the show on January 7. Haylee Smith, senior, designed the apple mosaic that was displayed. Special thanks to Hollabaugh Bros, Rice Fruit Company, Mr. Dwyer, State Horticultural Association of PA, and students who helped assemble the display.

Gettysburg Wreath Project

On December 6th, 50 of the 6th grade students that were randomly selected went on a field trip to Gettysburg. Activities planned for the day included visiting the Beyond the Battle Museum and eating our packed lunches at the Dobbin House, the oldest standing house in Gettysburg.

The highlight of the day was going to the National Cemetery where the students laid a wreath on the headstone of a soldier's grave. Mr. Stan Clark, Director of Veterans Affairs spoke to the students about sacrifice and service to our country before the students placed their wreath. Each student was given a challenge coin and also a small American flag to remember the day.

Mr. John Hoptak, a Park Ranger and educator for the Park Service, spoke to the students about Abraham Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address speech. After leaving the Cemetery, the next stop was the National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center where the students had the opportunity to see the movie "A New Birth of Freedom" and view the Cyclorama.

The funding for the day's events were provided by the Biglerville American Legion, Beyond the Battle Museum, Dobbin House, Moose Organization, Auxiliary from Gettysburg Legion, and Gettysburg Foundation. Many thanks to each of these organizations for providing us with this opportunity for the 6th grade students.
