A Message from Mr. Mercer A Message from Mr. Mercer

September 2026

Avenger Families:

We had a great first few weeks of school and classes are well underway. We are busy planning for upcoming events such as CTSO Fall Rallies, Homecoming, Fall Break and our first parent night for Senior parents only on Sept. 10.

Our PTSO is looking for new members! This group is a wonderful support for our school, and we would love it if you would get involved. See the flyer below for more information. Another great way to get involved is to become a business partner and participate in Shield Day on November 20. See the information below.

Please read the section below regarding morning drop off for CTSO and other meetings. We are seeing some concerning issues, and hope that you will help us to keep all students safe.

Parents of Seniors - We hope to see you next Thursday for our Parent Keys event for senior parents. If you missed our August edition of the Senior Scoop, please click on the link to check it out - it's full of important links and information for the Class of 2027.

We appreciate your support in this amazing Avenger year!

PSAT Registration is now open. This exam is open to 9th-11th graders. See below for specific information for each grade level:

9th grade: The PSAT is optional for freshmen. This is an opportunity to experience a national standard exam. In addition, students can link their PSAT scores to Khan Academy and receive free personalized review and test prep materials.

10th grade: ALL 10th graders are expected to come to school on Friday Oct. 16 and take the PSAT. The exam is paid for by the state of Georgia, and again gives students the opportunity to experience this type of testing.

11th grade: Juniors who take the PSAT are entered into the competition for the National Merit Scholarship program. We recommend that juniors prepare and take this exam in order to qualify for this important program.

Click HERE to register. The exam costs $25 for freshmen and juniors. Sophomores do NOT need to register or pay. The deadline to register is 9/18, so don't delay!

Important Safety Reminders about Student Car Riders

Parents,

Your child's safety is always our top priority. We have some serious safety concerns regarding morning drop off. On many mornings, student groups such as CTSOs, clubs and SGA meet at 8:00 AM. Although the cones are not blocking the front entrance at that time, we would appreciate it if you would follow the drop off route shown above. Entering from the front causes multiple traffic flow issues that could lead to accidents.

We are seeing several issues that must be addressed:

1. Students MUST be dropped in front of the school at the curbside. Please do NOT drop your student further back. Pull up and drop off in the front of school. This helps with the flow of traffic so everyone can arrive on time.

2. Students may not be dropped off in the teacher section of the parking lot. Teachers and staff are arriving at that time and need to be able to park. Although this may seem like a time saver, it is not safe for your child to be dropped off there. You must go through the drop off lanes.

3. Students should only exit vehicles on the passenger side. Exiting on the driver side is very dangerous for your child, especially when cars that have not followed #1 attempt to move into the left lane to quickly exit campus.

Please observe the above rules so that all our students can arrive safely to school!
