Principals' Message
Dear SCS Families and Caregivers,
We often say our #1 job is taking care of people—our students, staff, and wider community. This week, we want to highlight three important ways we're putting that into practice.
Taking Care of Our Community (Food Drive) - Our 7th/8th grade Student Leadership Council's food drive has been a huge success! The Shelburne Food Shelf is so well-stocked that we're holding donations here to restock them soon. We're incredibly proud of our students for leading this effort. (P.S. The Food Shelf is adding shopping times and a pre-Thanksgiving day on 11/22— check their website for updates).
Taking Care of Our Students (Safety Drill) - Taking care of our students means practicing safety and being prepared for the unexpected. We have completed our fall fire drills, and we will hold our first school-wide, options-based safety drill next week. Please check your email for a detailed message that was sent this morning (11/14) around 8:00 am with complete details on what to expect.
Taking Care of Our Space (Lost & Found) - Our lost and found is overflowing! Taking care of our space (and our amazing PTO volunteers) means trying to reunite items with their owners. Please help us by: * Labeling everything (clothes, water bottles, boots, etc.). * Need labels? Ordering from Mabel’s Labels gives 20% back to our PTO! * Checking the lost and found in the main lobby for missing items.
We know this time of year requires extra energy. As the days get darker and the "season of sickness" begins, please don't forget to take care of yourselves, too. Thank you for all you do to support our community.
In partnership,
Jen, Brett, and Antonia

Highlights of the Week
Food Drive Success
The food drive was an unbelievable success. We are blown away by the generosity
of this community. Donations absolutely poured in and we have been taking loads over
to the Shelburne Food Shelf all week. Thank you for contributing to this invaluable
community resource and don't forget to visit them if you need!
Sincerely,
The 7th and 8th Grade Student Leadership Council
Veterans' Day
Steve Sprague, a custodian at SCS, spent time teaching our third graders about Veterans' Day.
Steve served for 20 years and is now an important member of our community.
Dynamic Experiences
Dynamic Experiences continued this week with sensory jar creations,
baking, games & treats at the coffee shop, and pizza making.
The Legend of Shelburne's White Wolf
Third graders learned about the early settlers of Shelburne and the legend of the white wolf
that visits Shelburne when there is enough snow in November. Tuesday was the day!
Students tracked the wolf and sampled some of the urine it left to mark its territory!
Recess Fun in the Snow
Recess is even more fun in the snow!
