Good afternoon and happy weekend TMS Community! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 Thompson Middle School Curriculum Night (slides and a feedback form are below). It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces throughout our hallways. It’s no wonder we have such amazing students at Thompson. They are supported by an equally amazing group of parents and guardians.

One of the most valuable parts of Curriculum Night is the opportunity to strengthen the partnership and trust between our school and our families. I encourage you to take advantage of opportunities throughout the year to be involved at Thompson, visit our building, and see firsthand the many great things happening each day.

I recognize the faith and trust you place in us when you send your child to school each day. Schools operate in loco parentis, “in the place of a parent,” during the school day. When your child is at Thompson, we understand that we have been entrusted with a responsibility that goes far beyond academics. We are responsible for helping keep your child safe, supporting their well-being, and creating an environment where they can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

As a parent myself, I understand the trust it takes to place your child in someone else’s care each day. We do not take that trust for granted. We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you, knowing that our shared goal is to support your child and help them thrive.

Thank you for partnering with us and trusting us with what matters most: your children. Please stay connected, take advantage of opportunities to be involved at Thompson, and don’t hesitate to reach out when you have questions or concerns. We are grateful to be on this journey with you and look forward to making their Thompson experience a great one.

Have a wonderful weekend and Roll Thunder!

Dr. Matt Clark

Thompson Principal

On Wednesday, September 2nd, students will participate in Safety Day to practice our emergency procedures. Drills will include:

  • Bus evacuation (for students who arrive by bus in the morning)

  • Fire drill

  • Lockdown drill (with support from the St. Charles Police Department)

  • Severe weather drill

These drills help us ensure that students know what to do in the event of an emergency.

If you would like your student to opt out of the lockdown drill, please email samuel.pasholk@d303.org.

Meet the TMS Counselors Meet the TMS Counselors

Hello All! We wanted to take a moment to welcome you to Thompson Middle School. Starting a new school year can be very overwhelming and exciting. We want each student to know that we are here to support them. Since we haven’t had the opportunity to meet, we thought we would introduce ourselves and provide some general information.

Students may reach out to us by completing the Student Service check-in form that is listed on the Thompson website, under the students tab. This form is monitored and prioritized by Student Services staff during school hours only. Once the form is completed a Student Services staff member will follow up in a timely manner.

We hope the year is starting out well for you and your student. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us! Counselors have been assigned to students based on grade level and their last name. Please see the photo below to determine your child’s counselor.

If you would like to be considered for any of these supports, please complete Family Resource Form by September 11, 2026.

Everyday Math Strategies…

Everyday math strategies help us connect what we are learning in class to situations we experience outside of school. This week, students are working with ratios, scaled drawings, and transformations. We can see these concepts in everyday activities such as comparing quantities in a recipe, using a map or blueprint to understand scale, and sliding, flipping, or turning objects. Making these connections helps students understand why we use these math skills and how they apply to the world around us.

  • Ratios: Compare amounts just like adjusting ingredients in a recipe.

  • Scale: Make something bigger or smaller just like using a map or blueprint.

  • Transformations: Slide, flip, or turn just like moving a game piece.

Shout-out: A BIG shout-out to our students who keep making those math connections and showing what you know! Keep it up!

Math is everywhere! We are discovering how these skills show up in everyday life. Sometimes we even use math without even realizing it! 😊 Go math!!!!!

Help Us Collect ONE MILLION Pop Tabs!

We’re on a mission to collect one million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we can’t do it without YOU (and your grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and carpool crew)!

Those tiny aluminum tabs from soda cans, soup lids, or sparkling water may seem small—but when we collect them together, they add up to real support for families with seriously ill children.

Here’s how to pitch in:

  • Save your pop tabs at home—and ask your grandparents, cousins, friends, and neighbors to do the same!

  • Bring them to school all year long.

  • Every tab brings us closer to our 1,000,000-tab goal!

Let's pull together and make a difference!
